DC fans were in for a shock when news broke out that Henry Cavill was hanging the red cape. This generation has identified with Cavill’s Superman ever since Man of Steel hit the theaters in 2013. The movie was a blockbuster directed by Zack Snyder.

However, follow-up DC movies were not exactly a massive hit; some even got a highly negative reception. Remember the controversy surrounding Justice League? Last year around the end of the year, reports about Cavill leaving and James Gunn making several drastic changes made fans worry about the future of the universe. It was high time for a Warner Bros CFO to shed some light on what was happening behind the doors!

Henry Cavill is not coming back, SnyderVerse is over affirms Warner Bros CFO

Ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran became the co-heads of DC, they have introduced changes to the DC’s lineup for the next coming years. This included removing Henry Cavill as Superman, canceling Man of Steel 2, Wonder Woman 3, and $78 M budget, Batgirl. Fans were enraged when WB kicked Cavill but retained Ezra Miller for The Flash. Furthermore, they also pulled the plugs on several DC content on HBO Max

The company is putting efforts into removing every little thing left of the SnyderVerse off DC. Apparently, the company had a loss of $2.5-3.5 Billion and they are only trying to curb their spending on projects that offer very little returns.

But Warner Bros CFO, Gunnar Weidenfeld, assured the fans that the cancellation will stop in 2023. They are working on a new line-up for the DCU and taking a different direction, this time with a more singular storyline.

“It’s obviously a hit-driven business, you win some, you lose some. But if you look at the creative lineup that David [Zaslav] has been able to assemble, this is a first-flight lineup of creative talent,” said Gunnar, as mentioned by Fandom Wire.

Their future plans also include launching their own streaming service. Gunnar also warned that the streaming prices would increase since it’s currently too low.
