A lot has happened since the former American mannequin Meghan Markle stepped into the royal family just to end up denouncing it. Along with the COVID-19 pandemic, the one incident that dominated the news industry in 2020 was the infamous Megxit by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The Duke of Sussex made history by giving up on his UK Sovereigns striving for a “private life” with his wife. He gave it all to keep away the rampant British tabloids and their endless controversies. Nonetheless, as many had their own theories behind the bold step, the former monarch, Queen Elizabeth, had one too. 

Out of everyone in the royal family, the Queen was most accepting of the drastic changes Markle’s entry brought along. The House of Windsor did not tolerate anyone apart from the blue-blooded English aristocrats. But then it welcomed a biracial American actress precisely as a divorcee. As a matter of course, things were not as smooth as the family expected them to be. The simmering tensions between the members became evident over the course of time. And the Queen too thought otherwise of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. 

As reported by The Mirror, the latest royal publication has shed some light on the humongous misinterpretations that shook the royal family off its roots. As Prince Harry fell head over heels for his wife to even leave his family behind, the Queen became quite vexed with it. According to the author, Queen Elizabeth believed Prince Harry was utterly “consumed” by his love for Meghan Markle. As a result, it clouded his judgment regarding the Megxit.

It was also reported in the outlet that the sudden decision of the Sussexes to call it quits with the Palace, “mystified” the Queen. The former monarch harbored “great affection” for his youngest grandson out of all. Prince Harry has also claimed the same in various instances in the past. However, sadly, the lifelong familiar ties did not help the Sussex royals to deal with the complications of The Firm. 

Robert Jobson also reported that the former monarch was naturally let down by Prince Harry and his decision. Not only did she resent the drastic changes, but she also looked at it as a missed opportunity for the now estranged royals. The Queen realized Markle’s value in the Prince’s life. But she did not see herself getting separated from his grandson, ever.
