The relationship between Meghan Markle and the former monarch, the late Queen Elizabeth II, never ended on positive terms. Ever since Prince Harry and Markle tied the knot in 2018, there had been numerous controversies surrounding the adversaries between the Sussexes and the Monarchy. However, the Duke and the Duchess had their own justified reasons for breaking ties with the royal family. After all, who wants unnecessary interference in their personal matters?

This is exactly what happened back when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had started to feel the first wave of indifference from the family. Despite staying low-key, minding their own business, the couple was always a target of the senior royals, especially the Queen. Such family matters slowly started sneaking into global newspapers when the Sussexes thought they had enough. 

How did the Queen interfere in the personal matters of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle?

An article published by the Hindustan Times read that the Queen always had a “shrewd eye” on the expenses of the Sussexes. She reportedly kept a tab on their daily life transactions and slowly established a say in their personal matters. This went a bit too far when the Queen frowned upon the couple for helping Markle’s mother with some money. 

Although they claimed it was reckless spending, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle found it a noble deed to help someone if they were able. This was the Duchess’s mother, after all. The same can also be traced back to the book called, “Royals at War,” which expresses how the Queen monitored every activity of the couple. Although there were some other expenditures apart from Doria’s allowances that the Queen had to worry about. 

The book read, Markle spent more than half a “million pounds on clothes for public events in 2018, with £1110,000 just on her trip to Africa alone.” Besides, she had also spent lavishly on her jewels and other renovations. However, what might look like extravagant shopping was perhaps the way Royals live.

But what struck harder was things were not the same with Kate Middleton. She also had her ways of getting herself whatever she wanted. The late Queen, however, was never heard to interfere between her and the future king Prince William’s life.
