like the time he generated massive amounts of buzz for his ‘Donda’ listening
party without spending a dollar. As a maestro in the art of hype, the
46-year-old decided to run a Super Bowl commercial for one of his Yeezy products
recently that has gone viral like most of his antics. 

It was the unique approach he once again took in creating this commercial that
resulted in it taking off like wildfire. 


KANYE WEST BREAKS THE INTERNET WITH A SUPER BOWL COMMERCIAL 

During this year’s enthralling Super Bowl game, a commercial that interrupted
the broadcast showcased an unusual video shot on a phone featuring Ye. The
relatively low-quality capture showed the ‘Donda’ rapper delivering a monologue
about how he had spent all his commercial budget on securing a spot, and so the
video itself was the advertisement. He simply told people to visit his website
and check out his “shoes” there.

The shoes in question were the Yeezy pods that were launched last month. This
eyebrow-raising move quickly went viral on social media, achieving the effect
West wanted. However, just a few days prior, he had shared a video on social
media which was supposed to be the original YZY commercial.

Besides this ingenious maneuver, West pulled another move that ensured the Yeezy
Pods would sell like hotcakes. 


THE YEEZY PODS RECEIVE A MAJOR UPDATE

When West launched his unique blend of socks and shoes through Yeezy Pods in
January, it carried a price tag of $200. However, before the Super Bowl
commercial aired, the music mogul dropped the price down to $20 in keeping with
a promise he made years back. Even for those who had already purchased the Pods
for $200, West promised a $180 refund to cover the change in cost.

Despite such a significant lowering in price, West later shared screenshots on
his Instagram account, flaunting the fact that Yeezy Pods had raked in $19.3
million in sales on the day of the Super Bowl itself. After sharing this, he
proceeded to post an image of the Robin Hood cartoon character. He was implying
that by reducing the prices, he had remained loyal to his fans, which he
evidently did.
