Superheroes and supervillains may come and go, but Zack Snyder's vision remains iconic forever. Though the dusk has consumed DCEU, its legacy still echoes through the cracks of steel and shadows. Even when the universe changes its orbit, the cowl changes faces, and the cape changes shoulders, Batman and Superman's memories linger forever. And thanks to Snyder, DC devotees can bathe in the aura of Ben Affleck's masked vigilante one more time, just like they did for Henry Cavill's Man of Steel.

Prepare to be pleasantly surprised by the old world's heartbeat still thriving in DC's new era.

Zack Snyder recently shared on his Instagram account one such photo under the black-and-white concept, revealing the man in bat costume, Ben Affleck. Captured in Leica monochrome, 50mm Dream Lens, Snyder posted a shot of his Batman, which not only brought back memories but also affirmed the indelibility of his legacy with DCEU long after it ended. "No question—this man is Batman," Snyder captioned in simple yet powerful words. In the picture, Affleck is seen wearing the costume of Bruce Wayne at the portrait studio Snyder had built for Justice League.

The gritty, battle-scarred Bruce Wayne of Batman v Superman and Snyder’s Justice League evoked nostalgia, reminding viewers of a similar post Snyder had made recently wherein he deemed Henry Cavill as the ultimate Superman. Snyder's Instagram now hosts the two iconic superheroes with his previous post of Cavill, where he put it down as, "Henry Cavill is Superman," and pairing up Affleck as the iconic Batman. Snyder might be reminiscing about the past, but these posts only assert the superiority of his DC Extended Universe legacy.

There exist together the two of them like a silent pledge of allegiance to his past-universe where Cavill stays the Man of Steel and Affleck remains his Batman, inscribed in darkness and devotion.

Zack Snyder's DCEU legacy prior to its transition

Zack Snyder's foundational films for the DCEU painted a unique thematic structure for the legendary comic book characters, elevating them to a darker, more realistic, and visually stunning poetry in motion. It all started with 2013's Man of Steel, where he offered Henry Cavill a grittier and emotional Superman. Soon followed his Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with Ben Affleck’s Batman and Gal Gadot’s refreshing Wonder Woman.

Snyder's Justice League (2021) enriched the original myth, morality, and greatness in tragedy and became a pop culture phenomenon with fans hounding for the Snyder Cut. His work incorporated a feeling of great weight, ornate symbols, and emotional wounds of the characters, who were the well-known heroes. Even though DCEU officially closed and moved on with James Gunn's new box-office juggernaut Superman, Snyder's influence is still felt through movements like the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse campaign and moments captured on his social media feed.
