Until yesterday, the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were held high and glorified to be a significant part of affluent Montecito. Along with stars who are the leading sensation of the moment, Matt Damon and Emily Blunt, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle share their neighborhood with some of the most celebrated Hollywood bigwigs in their Santa Barbara estate. However, some neighbors are not too happy with the consequences. 

Recently reported by Independent via the Montecito Journal, the Sussexes have allegedly snubbed an elderly neighbor gathering another wave of criticism through the masses. Frank McGinity, an 88-year-old, happened to be localites with the couple since the day they shifted. As a gesture of courtesy, the US Navy Veteran apparently wanted to welcome them to their community with an adorable gift. However, it was discarded with an impertinent reaction, leaving McGinity disheartened. 

The veteran happened to pen it all in his memoir, which caught the attention of the local journal. He goes on to write, “I have a big house next to Harry and Meghan’s property and I live in the guest house while renting the main house out on Airbnb,” he said, according to The Montecito Journal. As they moved into the property at old McCormick, he “went up to their gate with the films on a CD”. However, they took no interest, he claimed. 

He further writes that their security guard abruptly shut the doors at him. “The gate guy turned me away and wouldn’t take the film,” he said. The old veteran was “trying to be neighborly,” he said.

Not only the Sussexes disheartened the old neighbor, but they also surprised him with their choice of locality to shift to the US.

The sprawling Montecito undoubtedly houses various Hollywood heavyweights in the locality. However, senior residents who have lived there for a lifetime say the area is mostly filled with elderly people. “We don’t see them very much around here,” wrote the veteran.

It was surprising to him that the Duke and the Duchess shifted there, out of California. “People are typically older. It’s where the elephants come to die”. McGinity further affirmed that the Sussexes live just a few steps away. The veteran lives a “tiara’s toss or two” from the Sussex’s property in the wealthy enclave of Montecito. The Sussex couple is recently in talks to shift to Malibu on a new business venture.
