Spider-Man: Brand New Day promises a fresh chapter for Peter Parker, but fans have been just as eager to see how the film reinvents its action. With the character returning to a more grounded, street-level world after No Way Home, every swing, punch, and acrobatic sequence has been under the spotlight. Interestingly, some of the inspiration behind those action scenes comes from a place longtime fans know well.

During the Spider-Man: Brand New Day premiere, Tom Holland spoke with IGN about how the film's action sequences were developed and revealed that Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man games played a surprising role. Holland shared that he recently revisited the games, while the stunt team and action designers studied signature combat moves to help shape the movie's choreography.

"Yeah, for me a lot of those like finishing moves. A lot of our stuff was influenced by that stuff," Holland said to IGN at the Spider-Man: Brand New Day premiere.

Holland further told IGN that members of the stunt team were avid gamers who captured screenshots of memorable moves from the PlayStation titles and brought them into the writers' room, where they explored how those flashy finishers could translate into live-action. The result is expected to blend the fluid, combo-heavy combat fans associate with the games into Peter Parker's latest MCU outing.

The comment made to IGN comes after Tom Holland revealed he had participated in the writers' room for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, showing he is becoming involved beyond acting. However, when asked whether he would return for Spider-Man 5, he chose not to answer. While Marvel has yet to confirm a fifth film, industry insider Alex Perez previously suggested Holland's current deal could extend beyond the current trilogy, leaving the door open for another Spider-Man adventure.

As Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters, Holland's growing creative involvement, both in shaping action scenes and potentially one day directing, suggests his journey with Marvel may be evolving in more ways than one. Whether in front of the camera or behind it, the actor appears eager to help shape the future of Spider-Man's cinematic legacy.
