BMW owners have been complaining recently about unwanted Spider-Man: Brand New Day advertisements in their cars. We are now living in times where the marketing machinery for a product has gone to such insane levels that it will find every nook and cranny on the planet where possible consumers might be available. No one or no place is safe, and the only way to avoid it is to start living under a rock.
The way things are pushed on people today is mind-boggling, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become the latest exhibit of this behavior.

Some of BMW's customers have taken issue with the company when they saw Spider-Man: Brand New Day commercials on their car screens. The commercial, which was made possible by a collaboration between BMW and Sony-Marvel, has spurred discussion about whether automakers should utilize in-car displays for external advertising.
Some owners said they were shocked to find a movie promotion when starting their cars that may cost well over $100,000. The advertisements apparently began to display on newer BMW models last week. The Spider-Man: Brand New Day campaign was intended to be a unique surprise for drivers and was set to run until August 10, according to BMW's own release.
“That’s some absolute b*******”
“Insanely dystopian”
“This needs to be made illegal before everyone starts doing it”
“$130K to get a Spider-Man commercial”
“Sounds like a Black Mirror episode”

Apparently, most of them did not find it to be a pleasant surprise. Instead, several people complained about ads showing up in places they consider personal on Reddit and other online forums.
However, the advertisement is not entirely out of place given the marketing relationship BMW has with the movie.
The symbiotic relationship between BMW and Brand New Day
The intriguing aspect of the Spider-Man campaign is the reciprocal interaction between BMW and the film. In one scene in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Tom Holland's character Peter Parker drives a BMW, showcasing the car's Sport Mode function. Product placement in films is widespread, and companies frequently pay to have their vehicles appear on screen.

However, some BMW owners believe that by placing movie advertisements inside their own cars, the current campaign reverses that relationship. The issue seems to have intensified due to the current marketing move by BMW. The company has not yet responded to the criticism, while Brand New Day continues to enjoy an unprecedented run at the box office.
