Freddie Highmore is officially reuniting with David Shore after The Good Doctor, with the duo teaming up for a brand-new drama series titled I’m Not Here to Hurt You. Highmore will not only star in the project but also co-create it alongside Shore, marking their first major collaboration since the long-running medical drama concluded in 2024.
The upcoming family crime drama has already been picked up by Bell Media in Canada for its Crave streaming platform, while Sony Pictures Television will handle international distribution. Inspired by The Irish Independent podcast of the same name, the series follows a seemingly upstanding family man whose life spirals after a deadly bicycle accident pushes him into an unexpected world of crime.
But while the reunion itself may excite longtime The Good Doctor fans, the premise behind Highmore’s new role may be even more unexpected.

What Freddie Highmore’s new drama series is actually about?
Unlike the emotionally grounded medical world of The Good Doctor, I’m Not Here to Hurt You will place Freddie Highmore in a morally conflicted crime story inspired by a real-life figure once described as “Ireland’s most polite bank robber.” According to the show’s official logline, Highmore plays an upstanding family man who accidentally k**** someone in a bicycle accident before spiraling into criminal activity — all while being driven by what creators describe as the noble but ultimately impossible goal of never hurting anyone again.
The unusual blend of family drama, morality and crime appears to be one of the biggest shifts in tone for Highmore following years spent portraying Dr. Shaun Murphy.
The project also reflects the actor’s growing creative ambitions, with Highmore stepping into a co-creator role alongside Shore while continuing his behind-the-scenes work through his production banner, Alfresco Pictures.
Beyond the premise itself, the reunion may also signal that Highmore and Shore were not entirely ready to move on from working together after seven seasons.
Why the Freddie Highmore and David Shore reunion matters after The Good Doctor?
Following the end of The Good Doctor in 2024, many fans wondered whether Freddie Highmore and David Shore would collaborate again, given the success of their seven-season partnership.
Their latest project suggests the creative relationship remained strong even after the ABC series wrapped, with both returning not only as collaborators but also co-creators this time around.

“We weren’t quite done with each other after all,” Highmore and Shore said in a joint statement while announcing the project, adding that they were excited to collaborate again and begin work on the new series. With I’m Not Here to Hurt You leaning into morally complex storytelling and crime-driven tension, the show may also appeal to viewers who enjoy layered crime thriller dramas.
