Spider-Man: Brand New Day just rewrote box office history, and now everyone wants to know what is next for Peter Parker. Tom Holland has spent a decade swinging through the MCU, and after a record weekend that left even Marvel's own boss stunned, fans are asking if a fifth solo outing is actually happening. Kevin Feige finally weighed in, and his answer is more complicated than a simple yes or no.

Turns out the future of Spider-Man is coming into focus, even if the timeline isn't.

Is Spider-Man 5 actually happening? Here's what Feige just confirmed

Brand New Day pulled in $360 million domestically its opening weekend, edging past Avengers: Endgame's seven-year record, and $932 million worldwide in just three days. Kevin Feige told Variety he never expected Endgame's mark to fall, and admitted he "couldn't be happier" watching it go down with the franchise's 38th film. That kind of number tends to answer the obvious next question fast.

"There are always plans," Feige told Variety.

On one hand, Feige may have just given fans plenty of hope, on the other he believes his gold makers deserve a needful rest.

"Holland and Zendaya are due for 'a good and restful victory lap' after their global press tour," Feige told Variety.

Feige also cautioned that a chunk of the MCU's Multiverse Saga still has to wrap before Spider-Man 5 gets its turn, whatever shape that film takes. Holland has said he wants to keep playing the role as long as possible. He has said the plan for eventually handing it off already exists behind the scenes.

Some of that confidence traces straight back to what critics saw on screen. Brand New Day stripped away the multiverse noise and brought Spider-Man back to his roots. It told a smaller, more personal story about a hero who has to rebuild his life from scratch, and that's rare for a franchise's fourth installment. It's a big part of why Feige sounds so sure about a follow-up, even without a date attached.

While Holland catches his breath, though, the wider Spider-Man world keeps spinning without him.

What's next while Tom Holland takes a break?

Avengers: Doomsday swings into theaters this December, and Avengers: Secret Wars follows in December 2027. Both films pick up threads Spider-Man: Brand New Day left open. Marvel still has plenty to build before Spider-Man 5 arrives. Marvel is not the only side of the Spider-Man business moving forward, either.

With Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, Sony's animated trilogy, hits theaters in June 2027. The film closes out Miles Morales' story, following Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse. It is a separate universe with its own cast, but it is still the next Spider-Man movie hitting screens for anyone counting down between Holland's films.

Feige's hints and Holland's own plans for passing the torch point the same direction. Spider-Man 5 is not really an 'if' anymore, it is about when. And with Doomsday, Secret Wars, and Miles Morales' animated finale all landing first, Peter Parker's corner of the MCU is only one piece of a much bigger web. Fans just have to wait their turn.
