Spider-Man: Brand New Day is bringing a brand new dawn for Marvel with a record-breaking Friday at the American box office following the phenomenal Thursday domestic preview performance, besting the all-time record of Avengers: Endgame in both. It has now been tracking to become the biggest movie of 2026 so far. And it has only bolstered this notion further with the new record it shattered, which once again was held by the crown jewel of its production house, Marvel.

This time, Brand New Day has taken the title for the biggest Friday in the history of the American box office from Avengers: Endgame.

On Saturday, August 1, Global Box Office reported through an official X (Twitter) post that Spider-Man: Brand New Day has defeated Avengers: Endgame once more to claim the biggest Friday ever in American box office history, with $99 million to $100 million yesterday. This is the second time in two days that the new Spider-Man movie has bested Marvel’s flagship title.

Yesterday, reports came in claiming that Brand New Day has collected $74.5 million in Thursday previews alone in the US to dethrone the 2019 Avengers movie from the top of that list, which previously held the record with $60 million. With another record snatched from Endgame, it seems that Brand New Day is coming for its title of Marvel’s highest-grossing film.

This might be a seemingly impossible feat, though, as Endgame has a lifetime box office of $2.799 billion, something that the film achieved through a re-release in June 2019, and this number will only go further with the upcoming re-release on September 25, 2026. Still, Brand New Day might end up posting a number somewhere in close vicinity to the Avengers movie, as the X post by Global Box Office has now ignited new hope among Spider-Man fans.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day eyeing the next Avengers: Endgame record

Spider-Man: Brand New Day defeated Avengers: Endgame not only in previews and Friday collections but also in pre-sales, which surpassed $200 million. All of this means that Brand New Day is expected to make at least $350 million and beyond during its opening weekend.

This would put Tom Holland's fourth solo Spider-Man film within striking distance of Endgame's seemingly unbeatable $357.1 million domestic debut. In contrast, Spider-Man: No Way Home generated an estimated $78 million in advance purchases before opening to $260.1 million in 2021. The jury is still out on the opening weekend collections, and everyone is bound to be desperately waiting for the Monday reports.
