Spider-Man: Brand New Day has swept everyone off their feet with its impressive writing and character-driven drama, something that most superhero movies fail to get right. Brand New Day's biggest strength does not lie in its villains, or the opulent action set-pieces, or even the special effects, but in the emotional core of Peter's inner turmoil that coincides with his mutating powers. Among many such emotionally hard-hitting moments was the last scene of the movie where Peter Parker reconnects with his former best friend Ned Leeds.

Despite the widespread rave reviews of the entire movie, some are not particularly in tune with the route taken by the makers in the end. A prominent online scooper and anonymous insider by the alias MyTimeToShineHello (user handle @MyTimeToShineH) posted on X (Twitter) his views about the ending. In his post, he called the ending the worst of all time, insinuating through a reposted video by the user @Godfather0fX that the ending had some obvious plot holes.

The context given in the reposted video suggested that Ned should not have remembered the secret handshake if everyone’s memory of Peter was completely erased and not buried. The anonymous insider agreed with the video and added his own comments, “Worst ending of all time,” making his sentiments on the ending scene clear.

The X post by @MyTimeToShineH was uploaded on August 1, 2026, and since then has gotten numerous comments, most of which are against his unfavorable views on the movie’s ending. The ending was one of the many aspects of the film that generated a ubiquitous discourse among Spider-Man fans regarding Ned remembering the secret handshake. There are some pretty elaborate theories on this, and some of them suggest that this should not have been possible in the first place.

Taking note of this fact and the scooper’s view, the internet seems to be divided in its opinion.     

The post by MyTimeToShineHello has incited different kinds of reactions, all on either side of the spectrum. Fans are either in complete unison with the view or are totally losing their calm over the unfavorable stance on the Spider-Man: Brand New Day ending. The comments are mostly against the notion, and the backlash is unreal.

“I'm very happy u didn't like the movie bcs you're annoying,” commented user @JessPerke7u2.

“Sybau, he didn't remember Peter, he connected the dots and figured out he's spiderman cuz MJ called Peter by name in front of him. All you do is engagement farming, you don't even pay attention watching,” wrote @huumanguy.

“Best ending, keep complaining and watching the cheap Gunn films,” suggested @christosLP, taking the diss to an interversal level. 

There were obviously some in resonance with his opinion about the ending and how the ending could have been different.

“Would have been better him remembering Peter when he becomes the hobgoblin,” said @CosmicwolfXIII.

“I really want this character gone bruh. Can he please be replaced with Harry as Peter's new best friend please?” requested @CategoryHeel.

“Muscle memory isn't memory,” asserted @Fyouropinion123 for those who argues that Ned might have most likely retained muscle memory to remember the handshake.

The comments clearly show a divide among fans, but it also suggests that neither side has equal numbers. Most of the comments reprimanded the anonymous insider for not getting the ending and what the makers intended by it. While everyone is entitled to their opinions, the general consensus and the box office numbers suggest that the audience is liking what Spider-Man: Brand New Day did with its ending.
