As per The Guardian, the veteran anchor, Scott Pelley, was terminated from his position on the premier Sunday news magazine program, 60 Minutes, following an intense standoff over editorial independence. Before this sudden exit, the reporter commanded an annual salary of approximately $7 million, as per several outlets. This high-earning career significantly contributed to his overall estimated net worth of $18 million.

The core conflict ignited during an all-staff assembly with newly appointed executive producer Nick Bilton, as per The Guardian. Pelley aggressively challenged the leadership qualifications and editorial direction of the new management team in front of the entire newsroom. He accused the network executives of attempting to compromise reporting ethics by pushing unverified narratives into sensitive segments.

"New management has instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story," Pelle said in a following statement, as reported by Azcentral.

“She (Bari Weiss) does not love this place. She was brought in to kill it, and she’s been doing exactly that”, Pelley reportedly accused editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, as first reported by The Guardian. Management quickly deemed this public confrontation an act of insubordination and issued an immediate termination notice.

“Your employment with CBS is terminated for cause effective immediately”, stated the letter to Pelley shared by CBS.
