After weeks of uncertainty surrounding his future, Scott Pelley has secured new representation by signing with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), one of Hollywood's most influential talent agencies. The announcement was made through CAA's official Instagram account, where the agency highlighted Pelley's decorated career, including his tenure as a 60 Minutes correspondent and his years as anchor and managing editor of CBS Evening News.
CAA also celebrated Pelley's long list of accomplishments, noting his 51 National Emmy Awards, four duPont-Columbia Silver Batons, three Peabody Awards, six Edward R. Murrow Awards, and the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism, which he received in 2025. The move marks an important milestone as Pelley begins exploring new opportunities following his departure from CBS. The announcement comes just weeks after Pelley reflected on his exit during an emotional appearance on The New York Times' The Interview podcast.
"The best thing that I can imagine in terms of describing it is that it's like your spouse was m********," he said, comparing the experience to a profound personal loss.
While acknowledging the emotional toll, Pelley also emphasized that his greatest concern remained for the colleagues and newsroom he left behind. He said he did not feel sorry for himself, but instead worried about the future of the institution he had dedicated decades of his career.
Although his departure closed one chapter of his career, Pelley's journey to becoming one of America's most respected journalists began long before national television.
From Texas newsrooms to national television: Scott Pelley's life beyond the newsroom
Long before viewers recognized him on CBS, Scott Cameron Pelley was a teenager in Texas with an unwavering fascination for journalism. Born in San Antonio on July 28, 1957, and raised primarily in Lubbock, he landed his first newsroom job at just 15 years old as a copy boy at the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. The fast-paced environment cemented his passion for reporting and shaped the career that followed.
After graduating from Coronado High School, Pelley studied journalism at Texas Tech University while already working in local television. His career progressed through stations including KSEL-TV, KXAS-TV, and WFAA-TV before he reached the national stage. Those early years laid the foundation for a career built on covering major stories with credibility and persistence.

Away from television cameras, Pelley has shared a long-standing partnership with his wife, Jane Boone, whom he married in 1983. Together they raised two children, Reece and Blai. According to Boone, Pelley embraced adventure in his younger years, enjoying activities such as hang gliding, scuba diving, photography, and even developing his own film, interests that reflected the same curiosity that defined his journalism.
With CAA now representing him, Pelley enters the next phase of his career carrying both decades of experience and a legacy that extends well beyond one television program. As he looks toward new opportunities, his reputation as one of America's most accomplished broadcast journalists continues to shape the path ahead.
