Sadie Sink is very close to stepping into A24’s film adaptation of Emma Cline’s The Guest. Having already proven her blockbuster muscle by stepping into one of Hollywood’s most iconic superhero franchises, Sadie Sink is wasting no time pivoting back to her acclaimed dramatic roots. Fresh off turning heads as Jean Grey in the record-breaking Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the multi-talented young star is setting her sights on a much darker, psychological landscape.

Emma Cline’s bestselling 2024 novel The Guest is officially on track for a cinematic adaptation, with Deadline reporting that A24 and Square Peg are in exclusive negotiations to secure the rights. The high-profile package lines up Sadie Sink to star and produce, alongside Lorene Scafaria, who is attached to write and direct.

Published by Penguin Random House, the acclaimed psychological drama centers on a cunning young grifter navigating the deceptive social hierarchy of a summer in the Hamptons. A critical darling, the book was longlisted for the PEN/Faulkner Award, selected as a Belletrist Book Club pick, and named a top read of the year by numerous major publications, including The New Yorker, Time, NPR, Vogue, and Harper’s Bazaar.

According to Deadline, ever since the novel hit shelves, studios and prominent talent have actively pursued the screen rights. Sources note that Sink, an avid fan of the book, moved swiftly when the adaptation rights hit the market over the summer, attaching herself to the project before bringing Scafaria on board. Despite heavy competition from roughly a dozen other prospective buyers in a heated auction, the formidable Sink-Scafaria package backed by A24 and Square Peg ultimately emerged victorious, landing the studio in exclusive talks to close the deal.

However, the most immediate Marvel turn might come soon, as she is rumored to be a part of Avengers: Secret Wars due in December 2027.
