Spider-Man: Brand New Day will sling its way into the theaters on July 31, 2026, but some have already watched it in theaters on July 30 when it was released for the paid previews. Now, the internet is filled with spoilers of the movie, where the select few who have seen the entire events of Brand New Day unfold have started dissecting each and every detail of the film. Among many of them is the cryptic post-credit scene, which potentially sets up the arrival of a new Spider-Man into Earth-616’s reality.

But the main question is: which Spider-Man? Fans on the internet are torn between Miles Morales and Tobey Maguire.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day leaves audiences with a big multiversal mystery

Spider-Man: Brand New Day's post-credit scene is unique for the MCU in that it features no real characters. Rather, we only see Ned's Spider-Tracker program, which he created to figure out who Spider-Man is. When a fresh Spider-Man sighting with "location unknown" appears, the app begins to track it out of Queens, then out of the United States, and eventually off Earth completely. The message "location found" appears after a few screen glitches before it finally tracks the web-slinger in outer space.

How he got there is a separate debate entirely. However, the point of discussion here is whether this is a different Spider-Man, and many think that yes, this is in fact another Spider-Man who has accidentally wandered into this reality. Now, the movie does not exactly reveal the identity of this Spider-Man, but it is most likely to be Miles Morales from Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse series, and not Tobey Maguire from the 2000’s trilogy.

This is mostly based on the assumption that the glitching problem with Ned’s Spider-Tracker is in direct connection with the glitching in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which means molecular instability caused by being in the wrong dimension. It becomes more of a likely possibility in light of the hints given by Tom Holland setting up Miles Morales for the next chapter of the Spider-Man franchise.

However, there is another theory regarding the post-credit scene in Brand New Day that sets up Holland’s Spider-Man’s MCU future in an entirely different way.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day's alternate post-credit theory

Another Spider-Man: Brand New Day post-credit hypothesis suggests that Spider-Man’s location being tracked out of Earth and into outer space might mean that the wall-crawler has somehow been transported into another universe. This can most likely be the Battleworld (created by Doctor Doom).

This will set up Tom Holland’s Spider-Man’s return in Avengers: Doomsday or, most likely, in Avengers: Secret Wars. The end of the post-credit scene did display the text, "Spider-Man Will Return," but did not reveal which movie. But this message has been consistent with the character teases for Doomsday, so many believe that the post-credit scene sets up Spider-Man’s new destination to the MCU’s next biggest movie, Avengers: Doomsday.
