While Marvel’s El Muerto was supposed to arrive in theatres today, it disappointed many except one lucky comic-book movie fanatic, Matt Ramos. The social media star just took to his X (previously Twitter) account to announce that Bad Bunny aced his superhero part in it like a “revelation.  He testified the action sequences in the film were as “brutal, & visceral” as fans had expected.

Picked from the depths of the Spider-Man Universe, El Muerto is the story of a wrestler whose power comes from his traditional fighting mask. According to Ramos, the elusive flick followed the “inspiring” tale of a man “wrestling” with his demons. Apparently, it also carries a signature Marvel easter egg in its post-credits sequence that will pleasantly surprise viewers.

Speaking of surprises, the fact that Ramos got the opportunity to watch it is a plot twist in itself!

El Muerto was believed to be canceled

So far, the upcoming project from Sony’s Spider-verse has not even received a trailer. In a way this was expected since up until this reveal by Ramos, fans believed the studio had dropped the project after SAG-AFTRA strikes halted its production! In October last year, Bad Bunny refused to speak on the topic during an interview with Vanity Fair.

His agent interjected saying “Obviously, it’s out” when the 29-year-old was at a loss for words to describe the “delicate” situation. So, it is unclear how Ramos managed to sneak a screening despite no updates since then. Still, it is a relief to hear that the movie is on its way to audiences judging by Ramos’ review.

Especially because the movie is the first of its kind in this category.

Portrayed by the Puerto Rican rap star, El Muerto is the first-ever Latino Marvel character to receive a movie of his own. What makes it even more special is the fact that the masked wrestler is a villain, not a savior! With a name that translates to ‘the dead one’, his destiny is to defeat, El Dorado through powers attained by the Mask of El Muerto.

In the comics, he is portrayed as a formidable fighter who happens to unmask Spider-Man in a wrestling match. According to the upcoming movie’s plot, the Jonás Cuarón-directed project will follow the same narrative. Hopefully, fans get to set eyes on it soon.
