Celebrity disagreements spilling onto social media are hardly new, but the latest exchange between Katharine McPhee and Chrishell Stause quickly caught attention after the latter pulled McPhee at the center of an online feud. It has reignited conversations around celebrity relationships, politics, and public endorsements. The online fallout began after Chrishell Stause commented on a TikTok video discussing Katharine McPhee’s past relationships and controversies, including her marriage to music producer David Foster and older headlines surrounding her personal life. According to multiple outlets, the Selling Sunset star accused McPhee of repeatedly supporting what she described as “problematic men,” while also questioning her advice on relationships.
“One day she will find her real inner confidence but it won’t come until after she is discarded enough times by the problematic men she backs,” Stause wrote under the video, later adding criticism tied to McPhee’s support for Spencer Pratt’s Los Angeles mayoral campaign, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The criticism appeared to intensify after McPhee performed at a fundraiser for Pratt, where she reportedly changed lyrics to Tina Turner’s 'The Best' while endorsing his campaign. Stause, who has publicly opposed Pratt entering politics, later doubled down on social media by questioning McPhee’s judgment while campaigning for what she described as a Trump-backed candidate.
But while Stause appeared firm in her criticism, McPhee says she was left just as confused as everyone else watching the situation unfold.
Why Katharine McPhee says she feels blindsided by the backlash?
Katharine McPhee later addressed the controversy in a comment responding to a fan under an E! News post, admitting that she did not fully understand why Chrishell Stause had singled her out in the first place. Rather than escalating the disagreement, the singer appeared more puzzled than confrontational about the criticism.
“Honestly, I have no idea,” McPhee wrote, adding that she felt “just as confused about this controversy” as everyone else, according to Entertainment Weekly.

In McPhee’s case, what may have started as support for a friend’s campaign quickly turned into an unexpected social media storm.
