“It’s very oppressive”- Princess Diana’s Ex-bodyguard Weighs on the Paparazzi Car Chase of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s car chase incident in New York emerged as the latest strike by the paparazzi on the Sussexs in their ongoing battle for ages. While some tagged it as a “near-catastrophic” incident, others believed it was nothing more than a mere publicity stunt to grab the headlines. Whereas the representatives of the Sussexes themselves have admitted how the media has quite exaggerated on the night of that chaotic Tuesday. Nonetheless, whatever it might have been, this story is not going anywhere.
Starting from armed Police Departments to Mayors, politicians, car drivers, and bodyguards, everyone has come under the radar, for each of them has something to add. This time around, it is Princess Diana’s former bodyguard who has a say in the matter. Coming from someone who has dealt with such circumstances in the past, in regard to the tragic death of Princess Diana in a similar car accident, has thus made a tremendous impact on the round of speculations.

In an interview with Fox Digital, the former Royal Military police officer Lee Sansum laid bare his perspective of the car chase incident. Sansum believes whatever we are reading at the moment is filtered and layered by the Press. And thus, according to him, “We’re only getting a part of the story,” he said. Speaking out of the experience, the former royal bodyguard elaborated how whatever the Press is circulating might be true to some extent but not entirely. Nonetheless, he knows the repercussions of such incidents.
“The paparazzi, the people taking the photographs…,” they are so intrusive. That eventually just breaks us down, affirmed Sansum. It is always the initial mindset that makes us think we will get past the wretched British media. Unfortunately, that is often untrue. “It is very oppressive,” affirmed the officer, which is enough to trigger the most mild-mannered mangas to seem red.
The couple’s car chasing incident led to a lot of heated back-and-forth spiraling between the media, leading to two opinions on what exactly is çhasing’.

On one hand, supporters believe the two estranged royals were chased down by blacked-out vehicles and motorcycles. However, skeptical media personalities have noted nothing of such sort ever happened. And that it is plain tomfoolery.

However, Sansum has a proper description of that. When “We say ‘chasing,’ we assume that they’re going really fast. They don’t have to be going fast, but they’re cutting people off…” elaborated the officer. He further narrated how the paps were advancing through traffic in an “aggressive manner to catch a vehicle.” The only motive is clicking photographs for showbiz. And that is certainly called putting people’s lives at risk, concluded Samsun.
