Fans of Rick and Morty can rejoice in the news of a spin-off for the show officially being greenlit at Adult Swim, the late-night Cartoon Network programming block that houses the original venture. The spin-off, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will be titled President Curtis, and that alone gives away on whom the premise of the forthcoming endeavor will be based. President Curtis, voiced by Keith David, for those unversed, has been a regular on Rick and Morty since the show's second season. David will be returning to headline the spin-off as well, a release date for which has yet to be announced. The spin-off announcement was made at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 25.

Speaking about his character, who will soon headline a show of his own, Keith David, according to the aforementioned outlet, said, “President Curtis has always been a blast to play.” The actor added that getting to explore the Rick and Morty world more deeply via this series sounds like a “dream” and that he cannot wait for fans to watch what kind of chaos he stirs up without Rick being there to steal the spotlight. Stephanie Beatriz and Jim Rash, will round out the cast of President Curtis, while Rick and Morty executive producers Dan Harmon and James Siciliano will co-create the new project. Their appreciation of Curtis as a character was also highlighted in a recent statement.
