During the July 29 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, host Meyers brought up Tom Holland's recent podcast, Good Hang, and an interview with comedian Amy Poehler. Meyers echoed her enthusiasm, encouraging the talented actor to host Saturday Night Live. Holland graciously thanked the audience before explaining his hesitation, citing his dyslexia and the stress of reading from cue cards on live television.
“Like, I'm really dyslexic,” Holland said. He explained how reading aloud on a live camera remains a major psychological stressor throughout his professional career.
“There is something about reading out loud that would just really stress me out,” Holland said. He shared that director Destin Daniel Cretton urged him to overcome his fear and accept the hosting offer. Holland finally informed the Sony marketing team that he felt ready, only to learn the show was on summer hiatus.

"I'm ready to host SNL. And then, they were like, ‘They're dark during the summer’. Oh, thank God!,” said Tom Holland on Late Night with Seth Meyers. The relieved actor celebrated the unexpected break, temporarily putting his live television anxieties on hold.
