For millions of fans, The Osbournes offered an unforgettable glimpse into Ozzy Osbourne's chaotic yet surprisingly relatable home life. Alongside his wife, Sharon, and their children Kelly and Jack, the Black Sabbath frontman became an unlikely reality television star, showing audiences a softer, more humorous side of the self-proclaimed Prince of Darkness.
Yet the MTV series told only part of Ozzy's family story. Long before cameras entered the Osbourne household, the legendary rocker had already become a father, and not all of his children chose to step into the spotlight. While Kelly and Jack grew up in front of millions of viewers, some of Ozzy's other children intentionally built lives away from public attention.
So, how many children did Ozzy Osbourne have, and why did only some of them become familiar faces to television audiences?

Ozzy Osbourne had six children across two marriages
By the time The Osbournes premiered in 2002, Ozzy Osbourne had already spent decades balancing one of rock music's most celebrated careers with fatherhood. Across two marriages, he became the father of six children, though their lives unfolded in remarkably different ways depending on when they were born and how closely they chose to embrace the spotlight.
Ozzy first became a father during his marriage to Thelma Riley, whom he married in 1971. Their family included Riley's son, Elliot Kingsley, from a previous relationship, whom Osbourne adopted after their marriage. The couple later welcomed daughter Jessica Osbourne, followed by son Louis Osbourne, making them the first children to grow up in the Osbourne family.
Those early years, however, looked nothing like the family life viewers would later associate with The Osbournes. As Black Sabbath rose to global fame throughout the 1970s, Ozzy spent much of his time recording, touring and living the turbulent lifestyle that accompanied his success. His older children largely grew up away from television cameras and celebrity culture, long before reality television transformed the Osbourne name into a household brand.

Jessica Osbourne and Louis Osbourne both remained primarily in England with their mother after Ozzy's family life took a different direction. Unlike their younger siblings, neither became regular public figures, and both have largely preferred private lives despite their father's worldwide fame. Elliot Osbourne, meanwhile, has remained even further removed from public attention, with very little known about his life after Ozzy adopted him as a child.
In many ways, it is one of the lesser-known aspects of Ozzy Osbourne's life. Although Jessica, Louis and Elliot Osbourne made him a father first, they are also the children the public has seen the least over the years—a reflection of how dramatically the Osbourne family's relationship with fame would later change.
That transformation began in 1982, when Ozzy married Sharon Osbourne. More than just a new marriage, it marked the beginning of a new era for the singer, both personally and professionally. Together, the couple welcomed three children in quick succession: daughter Aimee in 1983, daughter Kelly in 1984 and son Jack in 1985.
Unlike Ozzy's older children, Aimee Osbourne, Kelly Osbourne, and Jack Osbourne grew up as their parents became one of entertainment's most recognizable couples. Sharon emerged as a formidable manager and television personality, while Ozzy Osbourne rebuilt his career following his departure from Black Sabbath, eventually becoming not just a heavy metal legend but a mainstream celebrity.
By the early 2000s, the Osbournes were no longer known solely for music. Their family had become a cultural phenomenon in its own right. But when MTV arrived to document their daily lives, audiences were introduced to only part of Ozzy's family—leaving many unaware that the rock icon was actually the father of six children.
Why not all of Ozzy Osbourne's children appeared on The Osbournes?
When The Osbournes premiered on MTV in 2002, it quickly became one of the defining reality television shows of its era. Viewers were captivated by the family's unfiltered dynamic, watching Ozzy navigate everyday life alongside Sharon, Kelly and Jack Osbourne in a way that was both chaotic and unexpectedly heartwarming. The series ran for four seasons and transformed the Osbournes into mainstream pop culture icons, introducing an entirely new generation to the legendary rocker beyond his music career. Yet despite its title, The Osbournes never actually featured Ozzy's entire family.
By the time filming began, Ozzy's older children from his first marriage—Jessica, Louis and Elliot Osbourne—were already adults who had established lives largely outside the public eye. Unlike Kelly and Jack Osbourne, who were teenagers still living at home, they had no role in the day-to-day family dynamic the MTV cameras followed. As a result, many viewers who discovered Ozzy through the reality series never realized he had children from an earlier chapter of his life.
The most notable absence, however, was Aimee Osbourne. Although she was Ozzy and Sharon's eldest child, Aimee Osbourne chose not to participate in the show and moved out of the family home before production began. Rather than growing up in front of millions of viewers, she decided to pursue adulthood away from reality television, believing privacy was more valuable than fame.

The decision was difficult for Sharon Osbourne, who later admitted that Aimee Osbourne's choice to leave home before filming began left a lasting emotional impact on her. Speaking on The Talk in 2018, Sharon explained why her eldest daughter decided against appearing on the reality series.
"She felt too that she didn't want to grow up on camera. She hated the idea — it was appalling to her. And so she left at 16 and I regret every day that she did... It broke my heart when she moved."
For Aimee Osbourne, however, it was a choice she never regretted. Reflecting on that period years later, she explained that growing up with a famous father had already made privacy incredibly important to her, and she wanted the opportunity to discover who she was outside the shadow of celebrity. Rather than becoming known simply as Ozzy Osbourne's daughter, she hoped to build an identity based on her own work and creative ambitions.
Her decision ultimately created two very different experiences within the same family. While Kelly and Jack Osbourne embraced the opportunities that came with television fame—building successful careers in entertainment after The Osbournes ended—Aimee quietly pursued music as the lead singer of the synth-pop project ARO. Meanwhile, Ozzy's older children continued living largely outside public attention, making only occasional appearances in headlines over the years.
In hindsight, The Osbournes wasn't a complete portrait of Ozzy's family—it was a snapshot of one particular moment in their lives. The show's enormous success ensured Kelly and Jack became household names, but it also unintentionally left many fans unaware that Ozzy's story as a father stretched far beyond the family they watched on television.
Where Ozzy Osbourne's six children are today?
Although they grew up under the same family name, Ozzy Osbourne's six children have each followed remarkably different paths, with some embracing public life while others have intentionally stayed away from it.
Jessica Osbourne has remained one of the most private members of the Osbourne family, choosing to live largely outside the spotlight. While she never appeared on The Osbournes, fans may remember her being mentioned during the series when Ozzy learned he had become a grandfather after Jessica Osbourne welcomed her daughter, Isabelle. Beyond that brief connection to the show, she has continued to keep her personal life away from public attention.
Like his sister, Louis Osbourne also preferred a quieter life despite remaining close to his family. Based in the U.K., he built a career in music as a DJ, producer and record label owner while raising a family of his own. In the days before Ozzy's death, Louis Osbourne was among those present for his father's emotional farewell performance with Black Sabbath, later describing the concert as "hugely emotional" and admitting he had been worried about whether his father would be physically able to perform.

Very little is publicly known about Elliot Osbourne, whom Ozzy adopted during his marriage to Thelma Riley. Unlike his siblings, he has consistently remained outside the public eye, making him perhaps the least-known member of the Osbourne family.
Among Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne's children, Aimee Osbourne quietly built a career on her own terms. Performing under the name ARO, she has released music inspired in part by her experiences growing up in one of rock's most famous families. Her decision to avoid reality television ultimately allowed her to pursue a creative career without the public scrutiny that accompanied her younger siblings.
Kelly Osbourne, meanwhile, successfully transitioned from reality television into a multifaceted entertainment career that has included music, television hosting, fashion commentary and competition shows. Over the years, she has also spoken candidly about her struggles with addiction and sobriety. In her personal life, she welcomed a son with Slipknot musician Sid Wilson, who proposed to her backstage during Ozzy's farewell Black Sabbath concert in July 2025—creating one final family celebration before the rock legend's death later that month.
Jack Osbourne has similarly built a career in television, though his interests eventually shifted toward paranormal investigations through series such as Portals to Hell and The Osbournes Want to Believe. Alongside his professional success, he has openly discussed both his recovery from addiction and his diagnosis with multiple sclerosis, while raising four daughters of his own.
Beyond raising six children, Ozzy Osbourne also embraced another role that meant a great deal to him—being a grandfather. Over the years, his family grew to include several grandchildren through Jessica, Louis, Kelly and Jack Osbourne. Kelly Osbourne has often shared glimpses of the close bond between Ozzy and her son, Sidney, revealing that the toddler loved spending time with his grandparents. In a 2025 interview with PEOPLE, she recalled that Sidney would climb into bed with Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne to watch cartoons together, describing the routine as one of the sweetest parts of their relationship. The glimpse offered a quieter contrast to Ozzy's larger-than-life public persona, showing a side of the rock legend that fans rarely saw during his decades on stage.

Following Ozzy Osbourne's death on July 22, 2025, his family once again came together in Birmingham, England. Sharon was joined by Kelly, Jack, Aimee, and Louis Osbourne during the funeral procession, a poignant reminder that despite the different paths each of his children had taken, they remained united in mourning the man who had shaped all of their lives.
For millions of viewers, The Osbournes defined what Ozzy Osbourne's family looked like. In reality, the groundbreaking reality series captured only one chapter of a much larger story. Across two marriages and six children, Ozzy left behind a family whose lives unfolded in vastly different ways—some embracing fame, others deliberately avoiding it. Together, their journeys paint a far richer picture of the Black Sabbath legend's legacy, revealing that beyond the music, television cameras and larger-than-life persona was a father whose influence extended well beyond the family the world came to know on screen.
