Harry Collett has a simple message for James Gunn

Harry Collett may currently be best known for playing Jacaerys Velaryon in House of the Dragon, but some fans already see a superhero future in his career. The actor was recently asked about the growing number of fan casts imagining him as Nightwing, one of DC's most beloved heroes and the original Robin.

"James Gunn, please." Collett said on his interview with ComicBook.

While Collett admitted he was not particularly familiar with the character at first, he revealed that fans have been repeatedly bringing up the possibility through social media messages. According to ComicBook's interview with Collett, the conversation shifted once the interviewer pointed out that the actor had "a great Dick Grayson look," referencing Nightwing's civilian identity.

The brief exchange appeared to win Collett over. After hearing the comparison, the House of the Dragon star openly embraced the fan casting and signaled his interest in joining the DCU, making the request directly to James Gunn.

Why Nightwing could already have a place in James Gunn's DCU

Harry Collett's comments arrive at an interesting time for DC Studios, which is actively developing The Brave and the Bold as part of the DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters slate.

While the film's story remains largely under wraps, it is expected to focus on Damian Wayne, Bruce Wayne's son, as Robin. That detail has led many fans to speculate that Dick Grayson has already moved beyond his Robin days and become Nightwing by the time the film takes place.

If that proves true, Nightwing could already be an important figure within Gunn's version of the Bat-Family. As Batman's first Robin and one of DC's most popular heroes, Dick Grayson has long been viewed as a natural bridge between different generations of characters.

The character's live-action history has also been surprisingly limited. Brenton Thwaites portrayed Nightwing in Titans, while Chris O'Donnell played Robin in Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. Despite decades of popularity in comics, Nightwing has yet to receive a major live-action movie role of his own.

With The Brave and the Bold still in development and a Teen Titans project also reportedly in the works, opportunities for Nightwing to appear in the DCU seem increasingly likely. As the latest look at Gunn's expanding DCU plans has shown, the franchise continues to take shape behind the scenes. Whether Collett ultimately gets the call remains to be seen, but the actor has now made his interest crystal clear.
