The Highlander reboot features a stacked lineup, including Russell Crowe, who takes on the role of the mentor Ramirez. Crowe confirmed he will play the character with a Spanish accent, a departure from the Scottish tones utilized by Sean Connery in the original. Dave Bautista will also join the fray as the terrifying Kurgan, having spent months mastering complex sword choreography for the role.

This choice reflects director Chad Stahelski's desire to lean into the authentic cultural roots of the various immortals featured in the film, who, back in 2024, shared with The Direct how the film will not take place in the early 1500s in the highlands but rather beyond present-day Hong Kong and New York. 

The cast also includes Marvel veteran Karen Gillan as Heather, alongside Jeremy Irons, Djimon Hounsou, and WWE superstar Drew McIntyre. While the film currently lacks an official release date, it is expected to hit theaters in either 2027 or 2028 after post-production concludes.
