Henry Cavill's mustache has survived international espionage, a Superman-sized digital assassination, and the internet's relentless replay button. During 2017's Justice League reshoots, his Mission: Impossible – Fallout facial hair could not be shaved, so Warner Bros. scrubbed it away with CGI.
The result was an upper lip that looked suspiciously like it had escaped a video-game loading screen. The Cavillstache became Hollywood folklore, proving even Kryptonians are vulnerable to special-effects departments. Nine years later, the actor has returned with a magnificently petty counterattack.
A retro video game where every mustache on Earth faces extinction.

Henry Cavill declares war on CGI with Mustache Protocol
On November 4, Google unveiled Mustache Protocol, Henry Cavill's 16-bit game built using its new Googlebook laptop. The premise involves stopping rogue CGI artists from erasing mustaches worldwide. A perfectly reasonable response to Superman's digitally reconstructed philtrum.

Cavill used Google's Antigravity to turn written prompts into playable mechanics, Rambler to refine his brainstorming, and Magic Pointer to shape his hero's appearance, as seen in the reel. Continue On let him switch between his Android phone and laptop. The HP Googlebook 14 served as his creative laboratory, with no radioactive spiders required.
Google's three-part video series follows the actor designing the protagonist, experimenting with meme-inspired superpowers, and contributing to the soundtrack. In the opening installment, Cavill considers different mustache styles and toys with an absurdly armed medieval hero before reconsidering. Apparently, the world's follicles require sophisticated tactical planning.
And once Cavill finishes defending upper lips, another immortal warrior is waiting for his sword.
Henry Cavill prepares for immortal warfare in Highlander
Henry Cavill's next cinematic mission is Highlander, Chad Stahelski's reboot of the 1986 adventure. Superman plays Connor MacLeod, a Scottish swordsman born in 1518 who discovers he cannot die through ordinary means. His prize for immortality? Centuries of duels against people equally difficult to kill. Suddenly, Movember looks relaxing.

Dave Bautista plays the fearsome Kurgan, while Russell Crowe portrays Connor's mentor Ramírez. Karen Gillan joins as Heather, alongside Djimon Hounsou, Marisa Abela, Jeremy Irons, and wrestler Drew McIntyre. The ensemble could form an intimidating medieval group chat.
After Cavill's preproduction injury delayed filming, cameras rolled across Scotland, London, Poland, and Hong Kong. CinemaCon audiences glimpsed neon-soaked combat, motorcycles, and swordplay straight from Stahelski's John Wick playbook.
