‘Good Omens’ Season 3 Is Coming: Everything We Know About the Next Chapter

Good Omens is officially preparing for its final chapter after months of uncertainty surrounding the future of the fantasy drama. But while the beloved series is returning one last time, the next installment will reportedly look very different from the first two seasons. Fans expecting another full season may be surprised by the format Amazon has reportedly chosen for the finale.

That change arrives after Season 2 dramatically reshaped the relationship between Aziraphale and Crowley, whose emotional fallout quickly became one of the show’s biggest talking points following the finale’s heartbreaking separation.

But the biggest surprise surrounding Good Omens Season 3 may actually be the way Prime Video decided to finish the story.

Good Omens Season 3 will reportedly end the series with one major finale event

Instead of producing a traditional full season, Good Omens Season 3 will reportedly consist of a single 90-minute finale episode designed to conclude the story of Aziraphale and Crowley. The restructuring follows major production changes after misconduct allegations against Neil Gaiman surfaced in 2024. Gaiman denied unlawful behavior, but Amazon later reportedly paused production before ultimately reworking the project into a smaller-scale finale event.

The third chapter of the series is currently scheduled to release on May 13, 2026, airing on Prime Video for US and international audiences and on the BBC for UK audiences. Reports also indicate that Gaiman stepped away from production responsibilities while still contributing writing to help complete the narrative. The revised format now appears focused primarily on resolving the emotional cliffhanger left behind by Season 2 rather than building another sprawling multi-episode arc.

Fortunately for fans, the show’s central duo remains intact. David Tennant and Michael Sheen are both expected to return as Crowley and Aziraphale, while stars like Jon Hamm could also reappear as Gabriel as the celestial conflict escalates.

But even with a shorter runtime, the series still appears ready to tackle its biggest story yet.

Why Good Omens Season 3 could become the show’s most emotional ending yet?

Following the Season 2 finale, Aziraphale’s return to Heaven now places him directly at the center of “Operation Second Coming,” a storyline teasing the return of Jesus Christ and another possible apocalyptic event. The setup immediately raises the stakes far beyond the original Armageddon storyline that defined the first season.

At the same time, the emotional fracture between Aziraphale and Crowley now appears to be the true heart of the finale. After the pair finally shared a kiss before going their separate ways, the relationship between the angel and demon has evolved into something much larger than the original Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett novel ever explored.

Producer Sarah-Kate Fenelon recently teased that Heaven’s latest plan involves “over-complicated plans, aggrieved angels,” and major celestial uncertainty — hardly reassuring for characters who rarely seem fully aware of Heaven’s real intentions themselves.

And with only one final 90-minute chapter left, Good Omens now faces the challenge of delivering both a cosmic conclusion and an emotional payoff fans have been waiting years to see.
