When it was announced in 2011 that Henry Cavill would be taking on the cape as Superman, they forgot to mention that he would not just be doing so on screen to star in multi-million dollar movies such as Man Of Steel and Justice League. But also in the years that he would be DC’s Superman would become one with the role. He would go on to be the symbol of justice, strength, and hope, with or without the cape. Especially for his nephew.

A photo of the Superman actor alongside his nephew has resurfaced on the Internet and is going viral. It featured the British actor sporting his iconic hairstyle from the ear, while his nephew seemed to have chosen determination as his accessory of choice for that day. More than the photo, however, it was the context that led to a series of meme-worthy reactions.

Back in the good old days, when Henry Cavill was yet to be removed from DC’s slate, he appeared in an interview with LIVE with Kelly and Mark, then known as LIVE with Kelly and Ryan. Cavill went on to reveal that his nephew got in trouble for saying that his uncle was Superman at school. In fact, the teacher had to call up the British actor’s sister-in-law to re-instigate that lying is not something they encourage in the school.

Given the backstory, the photo of Cavill, and his nephew, although blurry, was nothing short of a movie poster that fans would be willing to storm into cinemas for. While they could not do that, they made it up by sharing hilarious memes about the same.

Perhaps it is the depth that he brings to characters that would have otherwise been one-dimensional, being the messiah for nerds, or the conviction with which he played Superman, but people have immense respect for Henry Cavill. This was clear as James Gunn faced the wrath of the overwhelmingly massive fandom as he slashed his name off the DC slate. While many claim that his global fame is newfound, the old picture of Cavill and the “determined” look on his nephew’s face prove otherwise.

Fans commented that the little kid looked like he would turn the place upside down. The place in question being his school, where people refused to believe that his uncle was actually Superman.

In a photo that featured Superman himself, Cavill’s nephew, with a look that screamed “I brought proof” stole the show. And to add the cherry on top, the young boy on a mission was also sporting a t-shirt with the classic Superman logo.

From how cool would it be to have Henry Cavill as your uncle, to how the actor’s nephew was going to be the most popular kid at school, fans had the time of their lives as they laughed out loud at the picture.
