Fact Check: Is DC Reviving Henry Cavill’s Superman for a Black Adam Movie?
Henry Cavill’s era as Superman officially ended when David Corenswet took flight as the new Kryptonian hero earlier this year, earning massive acclaim. Yet, even with Cavill’s departure cemented, rumors keep swirling about his DC fate, with the new one being about his Man of Steel being revived for a Black Adam movie. The idea of a surprise return has ignited both excitement and skepticism among those who remember Cavill’s iconic portrayal fondly.
As speculation grows, separating fact from fiction becomes crucial, as any move to bring Cavill back would mark a major development not just for the actor but for the future of the DC universe.

Buzz about Henry Cavill returning as Superman resurfaced recently after a parody account on X, DiscussingFish, claimed that Superman vs. Black Adam was being resurrected. The project had been teased by several DC sources in the past, but was never officially confirmed. These claims, however, proved false. There has been no official announcement, and the movie is not moving forward. Cavill, therefore, will not be returning as Man of Steel. Even if the effort was being made, the X account in discussion mentioned that Cavill's part would likely be recast. So that is also a hammer on the dreams of the actor's return as Superman.
DiscussingFish, however, reported that Dwayne Johnson would be back as Black Adam in the said venture. As the movie turned out to be wishful thinking, though, his return as the character he played in his 2022 DC project also proved false. Notably, Johnson’s movie, which featured a cameo from Cavill’s Superman, was a flop, managing only $393 million worldwide, per Box Office Mojo, despite its high production and marketing budget. The actor, however, must not be dwelling on the past at the moment, as he is back to working on the final chapter of a beloved franchise.
Dwayne Johnson is gearing to return to the fantasy action world that he has led since 2017, alongside other notable cast members.
Dwayne Johnson announces his next project
Dwayne Johnson recently took to his Instagram to officially announce the start of production on the third installment of the Jumanji franchise. Reuniting with co-stars Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan, the cast recently held their first table read in Los Angeles. Directed once again by Jake Kasdan, the film will include a tribute to Robin Williams, who led the 1995 Jumanji through Johnson’s character, the actor revealed. The movie is slated for a Christmas 2026 release, marking the conclusion of the beloved series.
