Frankie Muniz took to X on Tuesday to reveal that he has been trying to obtain approval from the City of Scottsdale for a permit related to a small project at his Arizona home for more than three years.

"This is destroying my life." He explained that the permit was for what he described as a "tiny BBQ area," adding that despite the modest nature of the project, the approval process has dragged on for years.

While Muniz did not elaborate on the specific issues causing the delay or reveal the current status of the application, his post resonated with many online, with several users sharing similar frustrations over lengthy permitting processes for residential projects.

Scottsdale City Councilmember Barry Graham was among the first public officials to respond, inviting  Muniz to contact him directly so he could look into the matter.

"Frankie. Scottsdale Councilman here. First I've heard of this, please email the issue to me." According to Axios, Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky also responded to Muniz's post, offering assistance as the conversation gained momentum across social media.

Muniz has lived in Arizona since 2008 and has remained closely connected to the state beyond his acting career. In addition to returning to professional motorsports in recent years, he previously owned the Outrageous Olive Oils & Vinegars store in Scottsdale's Old Town and has also been involved in luxury real estate ventures in the Phoenix and Scottsdale markets.

The exchange has also reignited discussion about whether public attention can help accelerate bureaucratic processes, particularly when well-known public figures bring their concerns into the spotlight. Muniz's comments also arrive shortly after he reprised his iconic role in Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair, the four-episode revival that reunited the beloved sitcom's cast nearly 20 years after the original series concluded. While the actor has returned to the spotlight on screen, his years-long permit dispute remains unresolved, with neither the City of Scottsdale nor his management team providing any further updates.
