One potential contender might be out of the running to play James Bond. Daniel Craig has officially hung up the spy hat, and with the James Bond franchise under Amazon MGM Studios, the hunt for the next actor to play 007  has already been kicked off. Several names such as Callum Turner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Jacob Elordi have been in the conversation. Another name in the mix is the actor and producer known for his roles in Divergent, The White Lotus, and more. 

Although he seems to have great potential for the role, he has denied the rumors.

Theo James, who starred on Netflix's The Gentlemen, has often been mentioned in the conversation about potential actors to play James Bond. However, in his interview with British GQ, the actor clarified that he would not be playing the role of 007. When asked about the reason, he explained that he believes he is too old for the role

“I'm definitely too old now, for one,” he said.

James admitted that it could be quite tempting if offered the role of James Bond. However, he also added that a huge role that comes with immense hype could change the way the public sees him. He did not think it would be the right decision for the long run.

“But it really wouldn’t ultimately be worth it. That would be an example of a place you could never come back from,” he told GQ.

Now, the role also comes with massive expectations. Several actors have brought the iconic character to life over the years, and fans will be watching closely to see how the next Bond approaches the role and whether he can fill the shoes of previous 007s, including Daniel Craig, Pierce Brosnan, and Timothy Dalton. Amazon MGM Studios are clearly aware of the expectations that lie on them to bring the perfect actor for the role.

Soon after Amazon took creative control of the James Bond franchise, Jeff Bezos took to social media to ask fans who they thought should be the next James Bond, sparking a huge conversation online. Meanwhile, the studio quietly worked to find the right actor for the iconic role. Eventually, Amazon MGM Studios hired casting director Nina Gold to lead the search for the cast of the film.

Gold is well known for her work on Game of Thrones and The Crown, Hamnet, as well as several Star Wars films and more. As per recent reports, she has been involved in the search for new and rising actors who could take on the role of 007. The studio has also reportedly been taking the casting process seriously, although no actor has been officially announced as the next James Bond yet.
