It will be ages hence, and fans rooting will still have their wildest theories around Henry Cavill’s return to DC, to come true. Despite the star, the directors, and the authorities officially putting the Cavill chapter to an end, fans remain unsatisfied with the call. Needless to say, the DC boss, James Gunn, has faced the direct wrath of mass outrage, ever since. As polite as he could be, Gunn has ensured he puts to bed the corny conspiracy theories and has been doing the same to this day.

Another of those whoppers hit Gunn a couple of days ago and the DC CEO is at it, once again.

A famous fan account, well known for his opinions and frequent discussions with the bosses over the latest updates, took to Instagram Threads to have Gunn weigh on a spiraling hoax. The theory alleged that Gunn was already aware of his Superman re-casting in 2021 while he kept on denying any news of his takeover of DC Studios in almost all of his interviews back in the day. Debunking the same in the thread, Gunn replied that it does not make sense.

It was not until 2022 that DC Studios announced him and Peter Safran as the new bosses, that he decided to take on his new Superman story. “I had no interest in running DC until Peter decided to do it with me so he could do the exec stuff & I could focus on creative,” claimed Gunn in the online discussion, clearing one of the many online rumors around the new Superman movie.

This time around, the entire theory stemmed from a recent interview with Nathan Fillion, where The Rookie star mixed up the timelines of a conversation between him andGunn.

Nathan Fillion was quoted saying Gunn had informed him of his Guy Gardener-version of Green Lantern role in the new Superman movie, way back in 2021. Gunn, however, firmly denied the same, claiming that he had no interest in running DC back then. The accused CEO also cleared that the actual conversation happened last year at the Guardians of Galaxy Vol.3 premiere party when Gunn had well taken over the studios, and not at the 2021 Squad party.

He also claimed that he had his plans well placed even during the 2021 The Suicide Squad premiere. However, he did not have any reasons to lie about it, as a new Superman movie was already pitched, which meant new actors coming in and had no deliberate intentions of “screwing Henry Cavill” as the theory suggested.
