Beau DeMayo is opening up about one of the most controversial chapters of his career with a candid new interview reflecting on his time at Marvel Studios. The former X-Men '97 creator revisited his experience at the company, discussing his working relationship with the studio, the legal dispute that followed his departure and the events that unfolded behind the scenes.
The interview arrives nearly two years after DeMayo was dismissed ahead of X-Men '97's premiere, despite having completed work on the show's first two seasons. Since then, both DeMayo and Marvel have publicly disputed the circumstances surrounding his exit, with the lawsuit between the two parties still making its way through the courts.
While revisiting his journey with Marvel, DeMayo shared several new claims about how he says he was treated during his time at the studio.

What did Beau DeMayo claim about Marvel and his OnlyFans account?
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Beau DeMayo claimed Marvel was fully aware of his OnlyFans account while he was working on X-Men '97 and had approved it, provided it remained separate from the animated series. According to him, the studio made it clear that his personal life fell outside its concerns as long as he didn't promote Marvel projects through the platform.
"It was cleared...It is your personal life. As long as you're not advertising the show on your OnlyFans, as long as you're keeping it very separate from the content of the show, it's outside of their purview." DeMayo told Vanity Fair.
DeMayo said he nevertheless came away feeling that some colleagues viewed him differently because of his identity, using the term "DEI hire" to describe their behavior towards him.
Continuing his conversation with Vanity Fair, DeMayo also claimed that after being brought in to help revise Marvel's Blade reboot, the "racist, sexist, homophobic vibes" he believed what he had experienced became more explicit when he returned to X-Men '97'. He described the experience as deeply traumatic, adding that he had initially believed Marvel would be a safe place to work.
Those allegations form only one side of a dispute that has unfolded publicly for more than two years, with Marvel maintaining a very different account of why DeMayo's tenure at the studio came to an abrupt end.
How has Marvel responded to Beau DeMayo's allegations?
Marvel has consistently rejected Beau DeMayo's claims. Following his dismissal in March 2024, the studio said he had been terminated after an internal investigation and described its findings as "egregious," adding that it immediately severed ties with him.
The company declined to comment further at the time. According to reports referenced in the Vanity Fair interview, Marvel sources later alleged that the investigation involved claims of sexual misconduct, allegations that DeMayo has repeatedly and publicly denied.

DeMayo has maintained that the allegations against him are false and has accused Marvel of fostering a toxic work environment while attempting to damage his credibility. His attorney, Bryan Freedman, has also said his client wants nothing from Marvel except "the truth," describing the studio's actions as part of a broader effort to silence him.
With both sides continuing to stand by their respective accounts, the dispute remains unresolved. The lawsuit is still active in California, with the case currently scheduled to proceed to trial in 2027, meaning the legal battle surrounding X-Men '97' is far from over.
