Christopher Meloni just gave Jalen Brunson the ultimate green light, saying the Knicks champion has what it takes to step straight into Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Jalen Brunson just delivered the New York Knicks their first NBA championship in more than 50 years, ending a title drought that stretched back to 1973 and instantly cementing his status as a franchise legend.

When the Finals MVP was asked what he wanted to do next, he didn’t talk about a parade or a vacation; instead, he smiled and said his dream was to appear on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

And now one of the show’s most iconic stars has publicly signed off on the idea.

Christopher Meloni Gives Jalen Brunson his SVU stamp of approval

Christopher Meloni, best known for playing Elliot Stabler on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, did not hold back when asked about Jalen Brunson’s acting ambitions. Meloni made it clear that Brunson’s championship pedigree already qualifies him for the spotlight.

“Absolutely. I don’t know if you’ve heard, but he’s a world champion. He can do whatever the hell he wants,” he said, backing the idea without hesitation while speaking to TMZ.

He doubled down by pointing to something less tangible but just as important. According to Meloni, Brunson’s mindset is what would carry him onto a set like SVU.

“He’s got the force of will,” he added while speaking to TMZ, framing the Knicks star as someone who thrives under pressure both on and off the court.

The timing of Meloni’s endorsement could not be more perfect. Brunson’s desire to appear on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit went viral moments after the Knicks sealed their Game 5 victory.

With confetti still falling, he revealed that landing a role on the show sits high on his personal wishlist. That interest has been building for a while. On his Roommates Show podcast, Brunson has openly talked about his love for the series. He has also shared how meeting Mariska Hargitay left him genuinely starstruck, even calling her his “number one” celebrity Knicks fan.

And as Brunson’s TV dream gained traction, the broader Law & Order universe faced a major shift of its own.

Law & Order: Organized C**** ends as the franchise repositions

Law & Order: Organized C**** is officially coming to an end after five seasons, closing a significant chapter for Christopher Meloni’s Elliot Stabler. The spinoff, which followed his return to the NYPD, will not move forward with a sixth season. The decision arrives at a moment when Meloni is once again in the spotlight for reasons beyond the show itself.

From the beginning, Law & Order: Organized C* stood apart from the rest of the franchise. While shows like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit leaned into procedural storytelling, this series focused on serialized arcs that stretched across entire seasons. That creative choice gave it a more cinematic feel but also made it harder to match the consistent ratings of its counterparts.

Behind the scenes, the series also faced frequent creative changes. A rotating list of showrunners meant each season brought a slightly different tone and direction. While that allowed for reinvention, it also made it difficult to establish long-term consistency. Even so, the fifth season managed to stabilize things somewhat. It found a lighter balance and fit neatly into NBC’s Thursday lineup, delivering steady viewership. Still, with new drama projects in development and ongoing creative turnover, the network ultimately decided to move on.
