department in a prestigious university. Let’s check out the details about it.

WHAT IS THE SYNOPSIS OF THE CHAIR?

Netflix’s new comedy series will tell of a new leader of an English department
at Pembroke University. However, the department has not been managed very well
up until now. Therefore, the expectations from Dr. Ji-Yoon Kim are high. Things
get even more complicated as she’s the first woman head, as well as one of the
few colored members of the staff. “At a major university, the first woman of
color to become chair tries to meet the dizzying demands and high expectations
of a failing English department,” says Netflix about its new comedy series.
Here’s a more detailed description of The Chair.

“The Chair follows Dr. Ji-Yoon Kim (Sandra Oh) as she navigates her new role as
the Chair of the English department at prestigious Pembroke University. Ji-Yoon
is faced with a unique set of challenges as the first woman to chair the
department, and as one of the few staff members of color at the university.”

HOW MANY EPISODES DOES THE CHAIR HAVE?

According to IMDb, The Chair will have six episodes in its first season. We
don’t know whether more seasons are on the way.

WHO ARE IN THE CAST AND CREW OF THE CHAIR?

Daniel Gray Longino is the creator of the series for Netflix. He previously
worked on various comedy series and short movies.

Amanda Peet and Annie Wyman are the scriptwriters of the series. According to
IMDb, it is the first scriptwriting experience of Amanda Peet, who’s an
experienced actor. Annie Wyman is a new name in the sector as well. However, the
premise of the series seems very interesting as well as its trailer.

WHAT IS THE RELEASE DATE OF THE CHAIR?

Netflix is going to release The Chair on August 20th. You can check out its
official trailer below.

We see how determined the new manager is to save the falling department. She
also seems to be in a relationship with one of the professors, whose personality
is the opposite of Ji-Yoon Kim. Some students seem to be involved in the drama
as well. High expectations and a dramatic environment make up an interesting
premise for Netflix’s new comedy. We’ll see how good the series is, and whether
Netflix would want to make more seasons of it when it is released on August
20th.
