South Park Digital Studios, a joint venture between Paramount and Park County, has entered into an exclusive five-year licensing agreement with Paramount+ reportedly valued at an astonishing $1.5 billion. This groundbreaking pact encompasses all 26 previous seasons of South Park, making Paramount+ the exclusive streaming destination for the entire library in the United States. The show's return to Paramount+ internationally also resolves prior contractual disputes, consolidating its global streaming presence under one roof. There is no information on whether South Park is streaming on other OTT platforms or not.
This deal highlights Paramount's strong belief in South Park's continued success, even though the road to this agreement was a bit bumpy.

Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount Global and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment, believed Trey Parker and Matt Stone are the forces that make South Park incredibly beloved and enduring. He emphasized its current immense popularity, calling it one of the most valuable TV franchises globally. The disputes centered on the length of the licensing term, with the creators favoring a ten-year extension compared to the five-year term initially proposed. Ultimately, the new agreement replaces a previous $900 million overall pact signed in 2021, which was set to keep South Park on Comedy Central through 2027. This updated deal aligns the creators' overall contract with the new streaming arrangement, ensuring continuity and stability for the franchise. Despite their earlier strong public statements regarding the merger, Parker and Stone expressed gratitude for the extension, highlighting their commitment to the organization, their team, and the dedicated fanbase of South Park.
