Oscars 2026 Winners List: 'One Battle After Another' wins Best Picture; Ryan Coogler Scripts History

Published 03/15/2026, 12:45 PM EDT

Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another dominated Hollywood's biggest night and took home six trophies, including Best Picture, at this year's Oscars. Meanwhile, Ryan Coogler scripted history by becoming the second Black Filmmaker/Writer to win the Best Original Screenplay for Sinner.

Both these films went into this year's ceremony as two of the most-nominated films. Ryan Coogler’s horror-drama shattered all the records and received 16 nominations, becoming the most-nominated film in the history of the Academy Awards. Meanwhile, Paul Thomas Anderson’s black comedy followed closely with 13 noms. However, the dominance did not stop at the nominations, as both films went on to rule the ceremony by securing the most wins of the night.

Apart from taking home the biggest prize of the night, Anderson and One Battle After Another won awards in multiple categories, including Best Director, Adapted Screenplay, and Achievement in Casting. On the other hand, Sinners emerged victorious in categories such as Original Screenplay, Original Score, and Cinematography.

Cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw created history after winning the Best Cinematography accolade at the Oscars, becoming the FIRST WOMAN EVER to achieve that monumental feat.

In the acting categories, Michael B. Jordan (Sinners) edged past Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme), Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another), and Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent) to win the Best Actor (Male) trophy, while Jessie Buckley (Hamnet) became the FIRST IRISH WOMAN to win Best Actress at the Oscars.
