You Have Only 25 Days to Watch One of the Greatest Sci-Fi Franchise on Netflix, Before Its Too Late

Science fiction has always been a beautiful mess, and Netflix has treated it like a playground, not a museum. Time loops, broken futures, reckless technology, all flexing side by side. Sci-fi earned its reputation by embracing the strange, and Netflix doubled down with bold bets and global hits.

The genre itself grew through crooked paths, bold experiments, cinematic swings, and constant reinvention. Now, after decades of boundary-pushing imagination, one of science fiction’s greatest franchises is preparing to leave Netflix.

With only 25 days left on the clock, Netflix's sci-fi is about to change shape. A major franchise is quietly packing its bags, and not everyone knows which titles are headed out the airlock.

Sci-fi favorites approaching the end of their Netflix run

Netflix has been the streaming home to many iconic Star Trek shows for years, but all six are set to depart globally on January 9th. Fans will lose access to the original Star Trek (1968 – Seasons 1-3) and Star Trek: The Animated Series (1973 – Seasons 1-2), as well as the groundbreaking Star Trek: The Next Generation (1993 – Seasons 1-7).

Also leaving are Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1999 – Seasons 1-7), Star Trek: Voyager (2000 – Seasons 1-7), and Star Trek: Enterprise (2004 – Seasons 1-4). The countdown has officially begun.

Star Trek: Prodigy, which received a rare second-season exclusive on Netflix, is now set to leave as its short licensing window ends. The first season already departed over the summer, and the second will follow with the final day to watch on New Year’s Eve, removal on New Year’s Day.

Rumors suggest a possible return to Paramount+, but no official confirmation has emerged, leaving fans in suspense over the show’s next home. As these shows leave, a new sci-fi series with 100% Rotten Tomatoes rating is making waves, proving the genre continues to thrive.

Netflix Top 10 Shakeup: Which ‘Stranger Things’ Season Lost Its Spot Before Season 5?

Netflix’s Katla is chilling viewers to the bone, racking up 5.2 million hours watched. Dark secrets, icy landscapes, and creeping dread make it one of the most unnerving mysteries streaming right now.

Inside Katla’s chilling world of secrets and suspense

Set one year after a massive eruption from the subglacial volcano Katla, the tiny village of Vík remains buried in ash, its few residents unwilling to leave. Strange figures emerge from the ash, appearing exactly as they did decades ago, alive and unchanged.

These visitors revive old Icelandic legends of changelings, but the truth is far stranger. Against a backdrop of volcanic mystery, Katla explores grief, loss, and human emotion, transforming a supernatural setup into a haunting, tender, and unforgettable story.

What makes Katla captivating is not how the ash-covered figures appear, but the way they unsettle those who meet them. They are embodiments of grief, loss, and desire, forcing characters to confront vanished loved ones, past mistakes, and younger selves.

With careful pacing and emotional depth, the series transforms eerie sci-fi into a meditation on human feelings. In Netflix’s evolving sci-fi world, as some titles depart, others quietly bloom into prominence.
