Will There Be a Season 2 of ‘One Piece’ After a Blockbuster Season 1 Release?

Manga fans have had a long history of dissatisfaction with live adaptations. But
Netflix’s One Piece has finally risen above that curse that stopped creators
from touching these iconic stories. Thanks to the creator Eiichiro Oda who
framed the plot with such finesse, it instantly hooked both franchise fans and
new audiences. In one day of its release, the series has garnered positive
reviews from critics and high scores on aggregate websites.

The series is confidently swimming to success and meeting the expectations of
its fandom, who have waited for over 20 years. So now the bigger question comes:
will this show continue to entertain people who have already got the taste of
this adventure on screen? Will this show become a fan-favorite franchise in the
future?

WILL ONE PIECE RETURN FOR ANOTHER SEASON ON NETFLIX?

It might be too early to say if One Piece will be renewed for season 2 or not.
Considering the pirate story has just arrived on the streamer, they are yet to
make this decision. So the viewership and fan demand will only tell if Netflix
will set sail for another season of the series or not. Also, to bring this manga
series to life, the creators had to shell out around $18 million per episode.

If there is a second installment, the production will take at least $150 million
USD. This means the debut season needs to be massively successful for the
streaming giant to let it happen. The success of a series combines viewership
hours, total views, and the number of people who watched all episodes.

As of now, the future of the show lies in viewers’ hands whether they want to
dive deeper into this iconic tale of newcomer pirate Monkey D. Luffy. Meanwhile,
there is still a huge chance people get another season of this legendary series
tells the excitement of the director.

MARC JOBST HAS HUGE HOPES FOR THE MANGA SERIES

One Piece director Marc Jobst recently sat down with The Streamr to promote the
show. During the conversation, the producer expressed his desire to return to
the sets for more episodes. After spending so much time with the cast and crew
members, they have bonded closely and he loved that environment filled with
energy.

“You know, we worked together to kind of build trust, and there’s no way I’d
like to let that go. Just like that. So yes, it sounds to do that,” added Jobst.
In fact, the creator has major plans for the upcoming seasons if Netflix gives
them the green light to renew the show. So people now can only hope things turn
out well for all.
