Will There Be a Season 2 of 'Free Bert'? What to Know About Bert Kreischer’s Netflix Series

A sitcom built around a shirtless comedian navigating Beverly Hills was not an obvious Netflix hit, yet Free Bert has proven otherwise. Within a week of its release, the comedy series climbed to No. 2 on the U.S. Netflix charts. On paper, the show is simple: a shirtless dad, culture shock, and nonstop punchlines. In practice, it is a surprisingly self-aware comedy about ego, family, and not fitting into rooms you think you have earned access to. Mostly, though, it is jokes. Lots of them.
With viewers already binge-watching the whole show, the timing feels right to ask whether Netflix might keep this chaotic experiment going for a season 2.

As of now, Netflix has not confirmed a second season of Free Bert, nor has it officially cancelled the series. However, according to Mirror, the signs may be more positive than fans think, especially considering how season one wrapped up. Days after the show’s debut, Bert Kreischer shared a video thanking fans for their overwhelming support. In it, he revealed that Free Bert was trending at No. 2 in the US and admitted the response hit him emotionally.
"I just want to take two seconds and thank everyone who tuned in to Free Bert on its premiere night on Netflix....", Comedian Bert Kreischer said in a video.
He described the series as a completely different beast compared to stand-up specials, noting how deeply personal it was, as per Mirror. His continued encouragement for fans to share the show suggests that no final decision has been made yet. Netflix has a history of weighing engagement heavily, and a show that trends, sparks conversation, and gets shared stands a better chance of renewal.

So what made Free Bert season one resonate enough to spark this conversation in the first place?
Free Bert Season one’s story, leading to its final moment
Free Bert follows Bert, as he stars as himself, with an ensemble of cast, as he finally ‘makes it.’ After years of grinding, the blue-collar comic can afford to move his family to Beverly Hills so his daughters, Georgia and Ila, can attend an elite private school. The problem? Bert does not fit in, at all. Especially not as a man famously allergic to shirts.
While Bert barrels through social norms, his wife LeeAnn desperately tries to impress the PTA. Ava struggles to find her footing, and Ila’s inherited chaos pushes everyone’s patience. When Bert attempts to help his daughters adjust, things spiral, particularly after a disastrous appearance on T-Pain’s livestream turns Georgia into a target at school. It is classic Kreischer escalation: good intentions, catastrophic execution.
The season one finale leaves things deliberately unresolved. During the Mr. and Miss Barklidge ceremony, Bert’s big moment ends with him being escorted out by security. Just before he exits, he is stopped by a man who introduces himself as Gene Magnussen, claiming they “have a lot to discuss.” Cut to credits.

Magnussen, notably, is the mysterious former friend tied to Bert’s new social circle, a relationship shrouded in unanswered questions. That cliffhanger alone leaves plenty of room for a second season to dig deeper into Bert’s past and the consequences of his present.
For now, the door is wide open. Whether Netflix walks through it depends on momentum, and fans making noise.
