The casting of Sharlto Copley as the notorious bounty hunter Leo Bonhart promises an unnervingly brutal presence in Season 4 of The Witcher. This character will likely be introduced first in The Rats prequel, establishing him as a ruthless killer before he targets Ciri. Driven by multiple contracts, hired by the Baron of Casadei to capture her alive and by Stefan Skellen to kill her, Bonhart’s twisted ambition led him to neither completely fulfil his obligations nor simply terminate his quarry.
His introduction immediately escalates the peril surrounding Ciri, highlighting the depths of her isolation as she falls into the hands of one of the Continent’s most monstrous figures. Bonhart is directly responsible for the massacre of the Rats, the youthful bandit group Ciri temporarily joined, beheading them after their demise. He then subjected Ciri to a period of cruel imprisonment, involving physical abuse and drugging her with the stimulant.
Emperor Emhyr’s inner circle expands, bringing in new players who will shape Nilfgaard’s strategy and Ciri’s pursuit.
Who are the key figures of season 4 of The Witcher
Season 4 of The Witcher will see the introduction of other key figures in the imperial pursuit of Ciri. James Purefoy is cast as Stefan Skellen, who will serve as a spy and advisor to Emperor Emhyr. Skellen is not merely a political operative; he is one of the key figures who contracted Bonhart, and he will eventually take a direct, violent hand in Ciri's struggle. Purefoy’s extensive credits, including roles in Rome and Altered Carbon, ensure a compelling performance as the ruthless imperial agent.
