Who Dies in 'Stranger Things' Season 5 Volume 2? Is the Main Cast Safe From Vecna?

Hawkins has never escaped danger without a few close calls, and Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 2 proves that once again. With the final few episodes of the show now out, the story pushes its characters to the edge like never before, delivering tense moments that make it feel as if no one is truly safe. The fight against Vecna reaches its breaking point, and every decision carries weight.
Familiar faces are forced to confront just how much they are willing to lose to end the nightmare. For viewers who have not watched yet, the episodes leave a lingering sense of unease, playing with the fear of departures and the idea that survival is never guaranteed until the very end.

Stranger Things 5 Volume 2 spends much of its runtime convincing viewers that no one is safe, staging fake-outs and near-death moments with ruthless precision. Elevators jam, minds fracture, monsters close in, and longtime favorites repeatedly seem one breath away from dying. Yet when the dust settles, the show pulls back from crossing its boldest line.
Despite the heightened tension and endgame positioning, every core member of Hawkins, including Will, Max, Lucas, Dustin, Eleven, Nancy, Steve, Holly, Robin, Derek, Jonathan, Joyce, Hopper, and others, survives, clearly preserved for a decisive role in the series finale.

That does not mean Stranger Things 5, Volume 2, is bloodless. Death arrives mostly on the margins, targeting secondary and unnamed characters. Kali's past resurfaces with the brutal killing of Axel and the implied deaths of her other friends, while she herself kills two scientists during a failed escape.
Dr. Kay's soldiers are torn apart by Demodogs, who later meet a fiery end. A scientist from Henry's past dies in a mine flashback, and Derek's family appears murdered in Vecna's vision. Now, with so many edge-of-the-seat moments already delivered, the finale could not come sooner for Hawkins' loyalists.
And sooner will the last hurrah arrive, with it being slated for the end of the month to close out the globe's 2025 finale plans.
