Things to look forward to beyond Stranger Things' last episode

The eighth episode of the series is not merely another chapter. It is the culmination of the lengthy conflict of Hawkins with Vecna and the Upside Down, and it carries high stakes for all of its heroes. The finale marks the end of a chapter that has shaped Netflix's sci-fi identity over the past decade.

After this episode, the main Stranger Things storyline will come to an end. However, this does not mean that Netflix will stop providing the audience with content related to the series, as it has decided to produce spin-offs.

Some of the planned releases include an animated saga, Stranger Things: Tales from '85, arriving in 2026, rumors of a documentary, and so on. The upcoming spin-offs in the works will be an extension of the main show’s universe, Matt Duffer told Variety.

"It’s so different than something like Star Wars.... rather than increasingly expand what could become an insanely convoluted mythology," Duffer told the outlet.

Though Episode 8 could potentially leave a blockbuster-sized hole in the heart of the fandom, the expansion of the Upside Down universe looks as promising as the main show itself.
