The idea of The Witcher without its iconic leading man felt like trying to make a sandwich without bread &#8211; it just would not be the same. However, when the dust settled, the revelation that Liam Hemsworth would now be steering the ship sent ripples of both surprise and relief through the fan base.
Season 4 has fans all abuzz with promises of a Ciri-centric storyline and the Rats. But the burning question on everyone&#8217;s minds is the release date. When is this highly anticipated season hitting the screens?

Season 4 had been a long time coming. However, the relentless strikes from WGA and SAG-AFTRA threw a colossal spanner in the works, causing months of frustrating delays. Thankfully, the WGA strike finally concluded, and the ink could once again flow freely on the pages. This opened the floodgates for the resumption of scriptwriting for Season 4 and Javier Grillo-Marxuach&#8217;s post further cements the fact. As soon as the season 4 scripting is done, writing for season 5 will begin.

The original blueprint called for the back-to-back production of Season 4 and Season 5. The strikes may have jolted the schedule, but it did not jolt the plan to film these two seasons consecutively. Consequently, while the cameras were initially set to roll in September 2023 for Season 4, the new strategy was to hold off until the first half of 2024.

The Witcher seems poised to wrap up after its fifth season. This eventually means that Hemsworth&#8217;s tenure as Geralt of Rivia would be relatively brief. Initially, the show&#8217;s complex timeline left some viewers bewildered. But over time, fans grew disenchanted. This disheartening backdrop was further marred by Cavill&#8217;s departure. Redanian Intelligence hinted that the fifth season might be the final chapter.

It will possibly adapt key books from Sapkowski&#8217;s series, namely Baptism of Fire, Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake.
