Comedian Mike Epps is back with Netflix for his latest special, Mike Epps: Delusional, which is set for premiere on January 27. This was his fifth stand-up special for the streamer, following hits like Ready to Sell Out (2024) and Indiana Mike (2022). In this new special, Epps explores confidence, ambition, and just the right amount of delusion that helped him rise to stardom.

Delusional is directed by Royale Watkins and produced alongside Ron Allchin, with Epps serving as an executive producer along with Mark A. Ritchie, Thomas Cobb, Niles Kirchner, Kyra Epps, and Watkins. But the refreshing and entertaining perspective on his journey is what it makes it special.

Epps’ career, began in 1995 with an appearance on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam. Along the way, he has starred in films like Friday After Next and The Hangover. Apart from stand-up, he also starred in and produced Netflix’s The Upshaws, a sitcom about a working-class family that earned NAACP Image Award nominations that is currently streaming. This special is already streaming on Netflix for fans to catch up.

Now, while he will talk about the delusional and hilarious aspects of building his career in his special, Epps has also spoke about the bizarre moments that came with the fame. He recently shared one story about his stalker in an interview.

Mike Epps reveals a story about his stalker

During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on January 22, Mike Epps opened up about an unusual experience with a young online stalker. Epps explained that he once received personal information online, including his home address, from someone who had been following him. Concerned for his safety, the Indianapolis native even hired a private investigator to find out the person.

The investigation revealed that the stalker was actually a 12-year-old boy from Erie, Pennsylvania.

“His mother said, 'he’s just having a good time,' and I said, 'could you go in there and whoop his butt for me and put it on camera?'” he shared.

Taken together, these moments, both absurd and unsettling, underscore the very tension Epps explores in Mike Epps: Delusional: the strange price of confidence, visibility, and ambition when fame enters the room uninvited. In that sense, Delusional is less a confession than a knowing reflection, proof that when it comes to success, a little delusion may be the most honest companion of all.
