Netflix has never been shy to venture out, dipping its toes into fresh storytelling formats and genres. One such shining example of this year was Between Father and Son, which was a 20-episode series where each episode ran for less than 11 minutes yet packed in plenty of drama and scandal. Now, the streaming giant is back with another bite-sized thriller, Final Project. 

This refreshing Mexican teen thriller follows a web of accusations and buried secrets. As the show begins to gain traction, here is everything to know about the show's plot, cast, and release date.

Final Project follows transferred student Tamara, who teams up with popular streamer and classmate Xavi for her final school project. As they work together, she gradually falls in love with him. Meanwhile, she faces an anonymous Instagram account that begins a cyberbullying campaign against her, threatening to expose secrets from her past. As time goes on, the harassment becomes more intense, pushing Tamara to her breaking point.

While the plot is certainly nothing new for audiences, the mystery and suspense keep the story alive. What is interesting about Final Project is its unique format, which feels like a refreshing change from the usual thriller show formula.

Final Project was part of Netflix's July lineup. It premiered globally on July 29, 2026, and is available to stream now. Interestingly, the show has 20 episodes, and each episode runs for 10 minutes.  This is similar to the episode format of Between Father and Son. But despite the brief runtime and slow pacing, the young cast manages to make a strong impression.

Daniela Martínez Caballero: Daniela Martínez Caballero plays Tamara in the series. This show is also her first Netflix original series. Before joining the thriller, the actress appeared in several television dramas, including Los hilos del pasado, Sed de Venganza, My Secret, and Mrs. Garcia and Her Daughters.

Tristán Maze: Tristán Maze plays Xavi in the show. While the series is yet another milestone in his career, the actor is already well known in the Mexican television industry. He previously appeared in popular dramas such as Sisters: A Shared Love, Games of Love and Power, Contrato de Corazones, Tú y Yo.

Isabella Tena: Isabella Tena plays Samantha in the series. This show is also her first Netflix original series. However, she is far from new to the entertainment industry. The actress is best known for her performances in popular Mexican dramas, including Love Has No Recipe, Invincible Love, Mi marido tiene familia, Sueño de amor, and My Heart Is Yours.

Ian Sparrowe and Virgilio Delgado are also part of the show. With its bite-sized episodes, mystery, and promising young cast, the show is a fresh spin on the teen thriller genre. Packed with secrets, romance, and suspense, this Netflix series is well worth adding to the watchlist.
