He has joined the crew as the ship’s doctor, taking care of everyone throughout the long and tiring voyage at sea.
But he does more than just take care of his friends’ injuries and illnesses. He gives his foes a run for their money in combat.
All thanks to his Devil Fruit, which allows him to walk and talk like a human despite being a reindeer, compelling one to have a deep understanding of his powers and transformations.

Chopper’s unique Devil Fruit powers
In the second season of One Piece live-action, we get to meet Tony Tony Chopper, who was once a reindeer, but then he ate a Devil Fruit called the Human-Human Fruit, allowing him to walk and talk like a human. On top of that, he gets three different transformations - Walk Point (his original reindeer form used primarily for transportation), Brain Point (the hybrid form between reindeer and human), and Heavy Point (a fairly muscular form for combat).
He can easily shift between these forms depending on his need, but he prefers to spend most of his time in the hybrid form to continue on with his medical practices and research. All these abilities truly make him indispensable to the Straw Hat crew. However, he knew these would not be enough against stronger adversaries, so he invented the Rumble Balls.
Rumble Balls are a testament to Dr. Tony Tony Chopper’s medical expertise and his understanding of his Devil Fruit. He devised something that will give him an extraordinary boost when faced with life-threatening dangers. The Rumble Balls give him access to some new forms, like the Guard Point and the Arm Point, which give him something more to fight with.
However, this power-up does not come without a cost - a cost that makes him lose his control.
Chopper's power come with risks involved
Rumble Balls are a great advantage in intense battles, but their excessive usage in a short span of time can lead to devastating results. For starters, he slips into a dangerous form called the Monster Point, where he transforms into a giant demon, causing mayhem wherever he goes. In this state, he loses his mind and cannot differentiate friend from foe.
He will attack anyone and everyone who comes in his way in this state.
Other risks include being completely drained of energy, with a longer recovery time. He might also incur heavy physical damage and injuries simply by being in the state for long enough. A really risky trade for a few minutes of power-up.
This is why Chopper is also seen refraining from using the Rumble Balls frequently.
