'Wednesday' Season 3 Moves Closer As New Filming Updates and Codename Surface
For a show built on secrets, silence has become part of Wednesday’s identity. Since the dust settled on Season 2, Nevermore Academy has felt unusually quiet, leaving fans to dissect every rumor, leaked clip, and passing comment for clues about what comes next. Now, after months of speculation and mixed signals, concrete production updates are finally emerging, pulling the curtain back, just slightly, on Wednesday Season 3’s long road back to Netflix.
And for the first time since the finale, the timeline is no longer a mystery.

After a prolonged period of uncertainty, new production listings have finally clarified when cameras will roll on Wednesday for Season 3. Despite earlier reports suggesting a possible late-2025 start, the series is now confirmed to begin filming from February 16, 2026, as revealed by OpenBrolly. That timing aligns with comments made late last year by Luis Guzmán, who hinted that production would not resume until the new year.
While Netflix has remained officially silent, these updates mark the clearest sign yet that the show is moving forward in a meaningful way.
While filming is expected to start in February, according to the Ireland-based production and resource site OpenBrolly, the end date for filming is said to be May 22, 2026, with the relatively brief window having raised eyebrows. This is so as the previous seasons of Wednesday required significantly longer shoots, often stretching eight to ten months.
What is confirmed, however, is the return to Ireland, with Dublin and Wicklow once again serving as the backdrop after Season 2’s successful relocation from Romania.
The schedule, however, is not the only detail quietly revealing what kind of season this might be- the codename of Season 3 further sheds light on teeny-tiny bits.
The codename and what it reveals about the show’s DNA
Alongside the filming timeline, a newly surfaced working title has caught the attention of longtime fans. Season 3 is reportedly operating under the codename 'Briarcliff,' as reported by What's On Netflix, a common industry practice designed to keep high-profile productions under the radar. However, this particular choice appears anything but random.
Briarcliff Manor in New York is closely tied to the Tee & Charles Addams Foundation, which oversees the legacy of The Addams Family creator, making the codename a subtle but meaningful nod to the franchise’s roots.

This continues a behind-the-scenes tradition for Wednesday, which has previously used production entities and working titles like 'Nightshade,' 'Raven S3 Productions LLC,' and 'Willow Hill.' Taken together, these choices suggest that showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar remain deeply conscious of the property’s history. The series is still targeting a Summer 2027 return, and is notably absent from Netflix’s 2026 slate.
With filming dates locked, locations confirmed, and a codename steeped in Addams history, Wednesday Season 3 is actively taking shape, even if fans will need patience before returning to Nevermore’s halls.
