The first-season cast of Wednesday was led by Jenna Ortega and yes, she would be reprising her titular role other than serving also as a producer for the second season. A month ago, a social media update reported how the season could delve into another round of delay since the casting calls had only begun in Ireland. However, within a week’s notice, two latest additions have made headlines. Firstly, Variety recently learned about Thandiwe Newton’s addition to Wednesday 2 while a week ago and Deadline reported Steve Buscemi’s arrival.

Besides these, the ones who made it alive out of season 1 and have a chance of recurring the roles are Hunter Doohan, Emma Mayers, and Joy Sunday as they were all present during Netflix’s Tudum fan event, discussing season 2. Furthermore, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Isaac Ordonez, Fred Armisen, Jamie McShane, and Percy Hunes White are also expected to return. While the chances of Gwendoline Christie’s return are diabolical given her fate in season 1, the recurrence, however, is not totally impossible.

Even though the Hollywood strikes held off the production for Wednesday’s second installment, back in November 2023, Deadline reported the tentative timeline for the production to begin would be late April. However, the previous updates further stated that the backdrop of the production will be shot in Ireland, which is a change from the location of season 1 since Wednesday’s initial season was shot in Romania. That being said, no premiere date for the season has been set by the streaming giant.

Now, regarding the plot updates, although not much has been known about it, the creators, Al Gough and Miles Millar did hint that there could be more Addams family members during their Tudum appearance. Gough and Millar also said that Wednesday’s relationship with her mother, Morticia could get some extended screen time in season 2 while Ortega herself confessed to E! News that the upcoming season will focus more on the horrors, giving each episode a feel like that of the movies. However, since much has been under wraps regarding the season, there is hope that the team will soon shed some light on the questions.
