Kang Ha-neul, Yeom Hye-ran, and Seo Hyun-woo make up the primary cast of Netflix’s latest thriller fix, Wall to Wall. While those familiar with the K-pop and K-drama landscape might recognize these names instantly, for those new to the territory, all three actors are very popular Korean faces, having appeared in multiple revered titles over the years. Kang Ha-neul, who plays Woo-sung, left his mark in another fan-favourite Netflix IP, Squid Game. Yeom Hye-ran, who plays Eun-hwa in Wall to Wall, recently appeared in When Life Gives You Tangerines. Seo Hyun-woo, meanwhile, who portrays Woo-sung’s upstairs neighbor, has previously charmed viewers with a part in The Fiery Priest.
Kang Ha-neul’s appearance in Squid Game notably came in season two of the show, in which he played Kang Dae-ho. He is also best known for his appearances in The Heirs (2013), Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, and more. Yeom Hye-ran, meanwhile, played Jeon Gwang-rye, the mother of the show’s main protagonist, Ae-sun, in When Life Gives You Tangerines. Seo Hyun-woo’s part in The Fiery Priest, notably, came under the moniker Nam Doo-heon. For those wondering what is making Wall to Wall so popular among viewers, though, it is the film's premise, rooted in one of South Korean filmmakers’ all-time favorite themes.
What begins as a seemingly ordinary setup gradually reveals layers of tension, mystery, and unease that challenge every assumption.
A dream house turns uneasy as whispers emerge
Woo-sung (Kang Ha-neul) is determined to buy the very apartment he has been renting, despite the real estate market in Seoul being incredibly competitive. He brings all of his life savings together to make the impossible happen. As soon as Woo-sung goes from being a tenant to an owner, however, things take a turn for the worse as he begins hearing sounds from his upstairs neighbors. As he ventures through the building to locate the issue, he is joined by other residents as well. But can these new acquaintances truly be his allies, or does Woo-sung need to keep his guard up at all times?
