‘Train to Busan’ Netflix Departure: Watch the Fan Favorite Korean Zombie Drama Before It's Too Late

Hailed as one of the most exhilarating zombie apocalypse movies, Train to Busan is a film that really helped the Korean film industry go mainstream globally. Released almost a decade ago, this movie still feels as fresh as it was in 2016. The edge-of-the-seat tension that director Yeon Sang-ho created in the narrow coaches of a bullet train, while having a beautiful father-daughter story at the core, was just something that was new and unexpected at the time. However, for Netflix members, there are only a few days left to sample the brilliance of this movie.
Train to Busan is soon bound to depart Netflix’s station, giving viewers just a couple of days to stream the movie for the last time on the platform.

Netflix is finally sending off one of the most celebrated zombie apocalypse movies in the history of cinema. On May 2, 2026, Train to Busan will be removed from the streaming platform. Zombie enthusiasts all over the world adore this South Korean masterpiece because of its startling violence, palpitating tension, and incredibly quick pacing.
The hardest-hitting part of the movie is the imperfect protagonist doing something noble by sacrificing himself for his daughter in the end. Workaholic Seok-woo (Gong Yoo) is attempting to make up with his estranged daughter Su-an (Kim Su-an) in the film. Since her parents' divorce, Su-an has primarily lived with her grandmother. After ruining Su-an's birthday by skipping her recital, Seok-woo grudgingly consents to take her to see her mother in Busan the following morning.
As we see the father-daughter duo boarding the train, there are signs indicating that something is not right. But they soon get to know what is wrong when a zombie apocalypse strikes while they are on the train, forcing Seok-woo to battle valiantly for the daughter he once took for granted, as everything around him starts to crumble.
Anyhow, Train to Busan is not the only movie leaving Netflix on May 2. Its sequel, Peninsula, will also say goodbye to the streamer on the same day.
Peninsula - a Train to Busan sequel, leaving Netflix too
Train to Busan was followed up by its 2020 successor, Peninsula, which explored the world of the previous movie a little further. As we discover more about how the zombie virus has spread over almost five years, Peninsula introduces us to a fresh set of characters. Han Jung-Seok (Gang Dong-won), who lives in Disapora, China, is enlisted to head a motley crew on a robbery to recover a truckload of cash that was left behind during the first zombie invasion.

Naturally, things quickly take a turn for the worse, and our heroes must fight an army of zombies in addition to the remaining humans. Although the movie was not as critically acclaimed as Train to Busan, it did appeal to an audience having a taste for the Mad Max-style of action thriller. Nonetheless, these zombie horror films on Netflix are available for only a few days now, and those interested in seeing them should really hurry.
